Saw a couple of Halliburton trucks near Frankfurt, Germany today
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 09:31 AM by bigbrother05
Just a few hours ago, passed them going north, just south of Frankfurt on the A5. Saw the distinctive color scheme (grey over red) first then saw their sign on the one with the pump equipment on the back. Their web site lists a German office, but it's no where near where these trucks were. In nearly 4 years, this is the first time to see anything that looked like oil field trucks (used to work in the industry, so quite familiar), much less Halliburton. Quite a disconcerting sight, but have been reminded that Germany and Russia just signed an agreement to build a pipeline.

The really scary part is the only language their web site translates into is Russian. Maybe they're on to something about the stability of ME oil.

Love the photo of Schroeder and Putin, hope Georgie doesn't get jealous over his precious Putie-Poot.

3. Thank you.
I find it - ahem - surprising that you've seen Halliburton trucks over here. Cannot understand what they'd be doing here.

We really live in interesting times.

4. That's why I posted it

When we were first coming up on the trucks, it took a minute to realize what they were. Originally thought it was a coincidence with the color scheme, but seeing the pumping equipment on the lead vehicle made me look for the name on the door as we went by. Not the large units you would see in the oil fields in the US, but definitely some kind of pumping unit. If it had been Schlumberger, wouldn't have been so surprised as they were founded in France to log the coal fields, etc.

If it had been somewhere that could work/support the North Sea rigs it might make sense. Then again, Rummy used to be on the Board of ABB, so they don't mind working international if they get to pocket the cash.

5. I'm wearing my tinfopil hat even to sleep these days... *head scratch*
so what are they about, I wonder...

BTW: Where in Germany are you? I'm in the Frankfurt region.

6. About 80 km south of Frankfurt
Was going to Hanau when we saw them at 1100 this morning. Halliburton will always go where they can make money. The odd thing was the company name on the truck. Usually if it's some kind of industrial service or construction related, that is done through a subsidiary, not the parent company. That they think the Halliburton name has some kind cachet is just amazing. Just shows how full of themselves they are.
