it may be doing just that.

After the initial outrage, people have settled down a little and now it seems as if Bush is actually (caugh) being bolstered on the Sunday Morning talk shows and in the media in general.

I've gotta tell you, I'm depressed this Sunday morning. I was hoping the Sunday Morning talk shows would tell the truth that, according to Bush's declaration of State of Emergency for Louisiana, all responsibility for the coordination of rescue and relief efforts is placed on FEMA. They failed and thousands died.

I was hoping these talk shows would also expose Bush's smoke and mirrors move to send Brown back to Washington when in fact Brown is still in his same exact position. Nothing changed! Again Bush deceived us. The incompetent Michael Brown is still in charge of FEMA.

This morning, it just feels like sentiment has shifted away from blaming Bush & FEMA and towards falling for GOP lies that local & state levels are the ones REALLY to blame here.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

over the country now. Word will get out on the ground if not via the media.

And besides, I hear Fitzy's cooking up something good in Plamegate.

14. Yes, but,,
no one gives a shit about the opinions of poor people, so it won't matter. The Democratic "leadership" has all but caved as well out of service to their own careers. Face it: Chimp has screwed up as bad as 11 Sep. 01 and will likely get away with it again.

Things are calming down a bit.

2. Only time will tell if people...
come around and see how the Bushies keep repeating the same patterns - there is a disaster, they blame everyone else, there is another disaster, they blame everyone else.

How many times can a person be spun before they get sick and vomit? I hope you are wrong, but the media is in a stranglehold and we all knew that. We just have to keep pushing the truth on our friends, families, anyone who will listen, because if you look at some of the posts on DU, you do see Republicans turning away from Bush. It's just that we don't hear about THAT on the news, do we? They would NEVER report on Republicans turning away from their party!

Bushies are masters at playing the media and blaming others, but after awhile, I suspect "others" are going to get tired of taking blame for what Bushies did - somewhere, someone has to have the integrity to go on camera and tell it like it is.

3. Actually, it looks like the Sunday shows are asking questions of
the local and state officials that allow them to refute the right-wing smears and also to point out how the bush admin, Homeland Security and FEMA were lethally incompetent.

4. i'm afraid you are correct
The initial outrage is subsiding. Oh, it's still alive and well on these pages, but the MSM appears to be moving on.
This has given rove a new opportunity to get the spin machine running again.
I believed all along that our best hope remains in the Plame investigation - the findings of which are to be returned by Fitzgerald shortly. The Katrina tragedy should serve to weaken the administration in the opinion of many Americans. A well-placed indictment from Fitzgerald (let's hope!) will efffectively cripple it.

9. These clowns still have to deal with Iraq, Fitzgerald, and gas prices
They are by no means going to get a pass from the voters even if Katrinagate calms down.

7. I've been watching
and have heard blame placed lower down, but it seems like a trickle down effect to me, not a white wash. I think this event should/will take out everybody involved.

Now, what polls are showing him bolstered? Maybe I missed that and I'm on the wrong track.

I just know that I am personally pretty non-judgmental and I'm PISSED. Jesse Jackson has been criticized for his slave ship metaphor but he's right on. Whether it was intentional or not is not the issue. It happened.

10. wait for the body count numbers
When they are released, it will never stop, Americans are not going
to casually accept the loss of a major US city, this interlude, is so
that Karl Rove can't point fingers that we are unpatriotic on 9-11,
he doesn't get to the ignore 52 memos part.
