Volunteer Arm of Homeland Security Says Up to 40,000 Dead in Total
Sorta throws a wrench in the propaganda being disseminated by the media, doesn't it? I smell a whitewash...

<snip>
NEW YORK In a profoundly troubling article in the Shelbyville (Tenn.) Times-Gazette today by Clint Confehr, a co-owner of a local mortuary revealed that he had been asked to join in recovering bodies lost in the Gulf Coast hurricane and had been told "to expect up to 40,000 bodies" in total. Dan Hicks is co-owner of Shelbyville-based Gowen-Smith Chapel and has been deployed to Gulfport, Miss., to help with recovery. His partner, Dan Buckner, told the paper, "DMort is telling us to expect up to 40,000 bodies," quoting officials with the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT), a volunteer arm of Homeland Security.

2. The Professor from LSU predicted "In the thousands Dead"
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 01:00 PM by leftchick
This morning on MTP. He is one of the people that put out the Hurricaine Pam simulatation in 2004.

Believe me FEMA will put out a tremendous effort to hide the dead. As opposed to the little effort to save anyone.

5. I agree with ...
Leftchick, they are going to do everything possible to cover up the truth. I am surprised that people can be so easily mislead.
Do you ever remember honesty coming out of this administration and the media. Only since last week have we seen any real reporting. Now it looks like we are going same ole same ole.

13. Sadly, people will buy the propoganda because
they don't want to believe that that many people could be dead.

My mother told me about a local flood, much smaller in scale than NO, in which the "official" body count was 200. She was told by someone who worked at the city morgue that the true body count was much, much higher.

The trick here will be to insist on getting an accurate death toll without seeming ghoulish.

3. That story is from five days ago.
Much has changed since then. The reports that the 10,000 figure "might be high" didn't start appearing until the past couple of days.

4. I was just talking about that
I am so pissed at the propaganda that is going around. The talking heads on the idiot box keep saying the numbers are lower than expected. I know they are lying, all of them General John Wayne and all of them.....
25,000 body bags to start them 40,000 more...will we ever know the truth?

6. an 'expert' on cable the other day was using a huge NO map to
point out which neighborhoods took the worst pounding from the combined aftermath of hurricane and the flooding. He said that area would have massive casualties and I don't know if the water has receded there enough to allow for door to door searches?

Ck out this link - scroll to to three extremely cool graphics - you right click on them to activate the time lapse action of 'Hurricane Pam' the simluation run last year - you can see what the water does as the hurricane approaches, hits and passes:

9. I don't see anyone here celebrating,
just trying to get past all the government/media propaganda to find out the REAL truth.

10. We have witnessed another attempt at propaganda with all the 'less
than expected' crap. Yes, my friends, the Cheney administration has just experienced another trifecta - reducing the population, targeting Black-Americans, targeting gays.

Let's be clear about what we are talking about.

We're talking three layers of casualties ending in death.

1. Those who were hit with the water and associated deaths in the first blow of the hurricane.

2. Those who were hit with the death from the break in the levee.

3. Those who were not attended to because of sinister planning, sinister stupidity, sinister bigotry, and sinister and foolish bureaucracy.

It is important to make the distinction because if you don't you will be hit with an excuse relating to #1 when you have #2 and #3 in mind.

This was an act of social war against a city.

Because they needed to satisfy their bigoted and/or fanatical religious voting base.

Because they needed to provide an example to promote their plan to not allow the federal government to assist.

Because they want to create a wild west ungoverned killing field that will reduce the population before they move in to take over.

Their world wide agenda -

Steal and accumulate money to spend on toys to stun, control, track, and kill the little people so that they can enjoy the earth resources that exist just under the ground of the feet of the little people - all the while maintaining a certain stability to use the backs of the people for labor. They are easing into this by allowing the illusion that we vote and work for our children and that we enjoy a democratic way of life that the world must emulate. It's not the real agenda. It is everything of horror that you have ever read in a book or watched in a movie, but it is the real thing.

14. If that is true
they will not be ableto hide the numbers. Besides, I don't see how one small mortuary could handle such task.

I sincerely hope that the lower numbers are the reality. I watched people last night crying because they had not located loved ones. One family finally did, thank god.

The pain of those who have not yet found their loved ones must be intense. Hopefully, this tragedy will be diminished somewhat, although the deaths of those, ie, the two babies who died of dehydration, the little two-year-old who was crushed in the panic at the Superdome, are tragedies beyond belief. I wonder how their parents are doing?

I only hope, whatever the numbers are, that each of the dead receives dignified treatment now ~ the sight of those bodies, left in the hot sun, floating in the water, hanging from trees, being eaten by starving animals, no human being should be treated that way, certainly not in the richest country in the world.

If the toll is only in the hundreds (which I sincerely hope it is) that will be a blessing for thousands of people. And no thanks to the AWOL administration, but rather to the ordinary people who were there, helping their fellow citizens as many did. They are the heroes.
