First Lady warns: "Please take Hurricane Amelia seriously."
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 01:36 PM by Bluebear
Taking time out of her schedule of events commemmorating 9/11, ("it changed everything," commented the First Lady), Laura Bush addressed the citizens of the Carolinas this morning. "Please, please take Hurricane Amelia to heart. We don't want another repeat of what happened to the people of Florida, Alabama and Mississippi last week."

Laura Bush says "this hurricane is showing some muscle" as she speaks to the press.

Going on about the Federal response to last week's hurricane, Mrs. Bush added "I know Brownie, he is a good, good man," and that any suggestion that he was anything less than spectacular is "ridiculous".

She concluded with the announcement that she plans on returning to the delta area to touch and hug more African-Americans this week. "Money and housing are fine, but what these people really, really need is human contact."

edit: satire alert before people send this to their local papers :)

20. AHHHHH! Great!
The only time I laugh out loud anymore is when I trip across brilliant shit like this on these boards! THANK YOU!!!
What REALLY makes it work is, we all have to stop and think v e r y h a r d before we can figure out if this is "real" or not, cuz these days, who would be surprised if this was true?

22. Welcome to DU and you are ABSOLUTELY right.
It is very hard to satirize these people, because anything, ANYTHING is possible with them.

10. is this a for real, or is this post in jest? WAS LAURA BUSH FREAKED OUT
Edited on Sun Sep-11-05 01:32 PM by flordehinojos
OF HER MIND?
hurricane AMELIA? ... didn't she mean to mean OPHELIA?

WHY DIDN'T SHE MENTION N.O.? when she says, "Please, please take Hurricane Amelia to heart. We don't want another repeat of what happened to the people of Florida, Alabama and Mississippi last week."

Is it because too much of a guilty conscience?

If this is one of those posts mocking the laura bush and her pickled mind, i admire the finesse and subtlety with which it is being done. if it is a for real post ....damn! her mind is really pickled!

as mine seems to be for not being able to distinguish whether you are poking fun at laura bush or whether she has actually had the temerity to say those things.

darn this post is driving me crazy!
:)

12. Mocking Laura and her pickled mind.
She couldn't even get "Katrina" right, remember. And all the Presidential visits seem to avoid N.O. like the plague!

17. "like the plague"? Let's hope you don't have to eat those words.
Because with all those floating bodies and excrement, that really is a danger right now.

21. So only Republican states matter to her
I really wish that the MSM would pick up on this. Louisiana, which was the hardest hit, wasn't even mentioned by her. And the last comment basically just says that there is more need for feel-good PR shots.

Ah, salmon. Still hard to wrap the mind around it. I still have a friend in Biloxi I cannot locate, although I was told they DID evacuate, so I think it's just a case of wherever they are they are incommunicado or something.

27. This is funny, Bluebear -- but I really think that you should edit it...
to state that it's satire. Everyone's not going to read all of the other posts. I'd hate to have someone forward this to someone else and look ridiculous. (Rush Limbaugh creates fake ads and then passes them off as being true. When people complain that he misrepresented them, he tells them to get a sense of humor. I'd rather that we not be guilty of the same thing.)

Funny though! :)

I think they should let Laura speak more often--she makes them look even more distant and uncaring.

EDIT: Damn, I'm slow. Didn't realize it was satire. Still hilariously funny though. :P
