We are missing an opportunity here.
DUers, kossacks, progressives bloggers, all of us are missing a golden opportunity to throw something that sticks to BushCo.

Because we are too cynical.

When we hear about FEMA being stacked with political appointees, we roll our eyes and say "no news there." When we hear about Katrina relief being used as a cash cow for BushCo affiliated companies, maybe we rate a post or two up, or give it a minor spot on our webpage, or a small sidenote link on our blogs, but hey, it's not like it's a big deal. We all knew that would happen after all.

I mean how could we not expect this after Halliburton (just one small example) fed our troops rotten food while they pocketed billions?

But this is big news. And it is a big deal. And it's an ongoing pattern of behavior on the part of BushCo that the less politically adroit are not fully cognizant of. Sure one can say D.C. has been like that forever, but never to this extent. And that's not a single failure, not an isolated incident, but a culture of corruption very core reason why BushCo and all its affiliates must go.

The Republican party is the center of operations for an organized effort to milk the government dry of cash, and give nothing of real value in return.

It's undeniable in the face of mounting evidence, with cases emerging in the newspapers and courts that were just too blatant to sneak under the radar. Katrina busts this can of worms open. It shows us that the consequences of government graft aren't just a financial drain, an annoying mosquito sucking on the taxpayer's wallet, but a real and potentially deadly danger to our society.

So folks, try and get your jaded minds to work up a little outrage once more about cronyism. Not just in FEMA, but in all the federal agencies. Not just in the Federal government, but in all government I know you're burned out on being mad after years and years of this crap, but we can't afford to miss this window of opportunity where the population at large is actually taking a critical look.

People in starched shirts who leach off the government with cushy jobs and easy contracts are crooks. Criminals. Sociopaths. Murderers. And increasingly these days, Republicans.

2. oh and here is letter to local fish wrap
To the Editor.

So Mr Brown was given his post because he is well connected to the President? The same goes for Mr Chertoff, a true believer with ZERO experience in disaster management. So Chertoff demoted Brown AFTER the VP told him to take care of it. We are supposed to sing hosannas? No. What FEMA reveals is a culture of corruption and cronyism not seen since the Gilded Age and reveals a pattern. We need professionals in charge, not true believers, but alas that will not happen until the Bush Administration is finally out of office. What the Bush Administration wants to do is get rid of the civil service that was formed to deal with these problems. This brings me to the next point: IMPEACHMENT, there are many reasons and Katrina is just the latest.

Sincerely,
