Anyone remember Chertoff's role in the Clinton impeachment ??

I seem to recall him being a mouthpiece for the Lucianee Goldberg crowd and very partisan? And now, he is the chief of Homeland Security? And the Homeland Security is in charge of FEMA? So where does the buck stop? With Homeland Security Chief or with the FEMA chief? Chertoff sends Brownie home and in so many words, tells him that he will be the fall guy? So it stops with Brownie, huh?

For other incompetents right above him...If Homeland Security is in charge, then how much responsibility does FEMA bear in this matter? And Congress voted to put FEMA under the helm of Homeland Security...??

Chertoff hired the rest of the incompetents at FEMA.

I heard Howard Dean on Ed Schultz Show last week, Fri I think. Ed asked Dean if he believed Brown should be fired NOW in the middle of this Katrina disaster. Dean said "Absolutely! I'd like to see the person who hired all these incompetent people fired FIRST!" Then of course, he said that's probably not going to happen, at least right now, and is why we have to work very hard to get control of the House and Senate back in 2006!

He also said "I don't just want Democrats in there either. That's not enough! We also need to replace the Dems who were happy to sit on their butts and do nothing but work on getting re-elected!"

deep in whitewater, detainee torture and denial of rights, and was another lawyer instead of anything that would really recommend him to head homeland security? Why was Hilary the ONLY vote against his confirmation?

He was a PUb, and that's the opposition party! I admit, I didn't read the entire article, but he at least seems to have a decent broad background of experience. FAR better than Brown and the Arabian Horses!!!!

My problem with Chertoff is that I haven't seen that experience show he knows what he's doing with the Katrina disaster. He foolishly turned it all over to another incompetent, Mike Brown, who did nothing but make Shrub, Chertoff and Brown look like a bunch of idiots!
