Meeting to improve emergency communications was CANCELLED!
And the next one wasn't scheduled until almost the end of hurricane season. On top of that, why are there FOCUS GROUPS to deal with this very important topic?

From website of the Network Reliability and Interoperability Council:

The Seventh Council (NRIC VII)

NRIC VII has published the 2005 meeting schedule. Meetings will be held:

- Tuesday, June 28, 2005 - (Cancelled)
- Wednesday, September 21, 2005
- Tuesday, December 6, 2005

NRIC VII held a meeting Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the FCC. Click here to view the presentation and meeting minutes.

NRIC VII Participants

Council Chairman

Council Members

Focus Group Chairs

NRIC VII Mission

“Partner with the Federal Communications Commission, the communications industry and public safety to facilitate enhancement of emergency communications networks, homeland security, and best practices across the burgeoning telecommunications industry.”

As of Sept. 8, Gov. Blanco was still waiting for her requests for portable radios and generators for emergency responders.

I am assuming that the US Military has full field communications systems but it looks like there is almost nothing in place for emergencies here at home.

1. O, damn. I think I was supposed to be there.
How come nobody told me it was cancelled?

5. I was making a joke
based on the notion of an emergency communications working group not being able to get word to their members of a postponed meeting. My apoogies--I do things like that. It's a weakness.

7. I think that probly 95% of all posts here go unacknowledged.
It can really make you feel like you're shooting up flares trying to attract notice in the Land of the Blind.

8. Generally speaking, my posts are noticed ok.
But I don't know why people don't see how important this cancellation was.

If I need attention, I can always post something negative about prostitution and then plenty of people will go after me. :D
