Impeachment: Just suppose ...
... we re-take Capitol Hill in 2006.

And Bush is impeached but not removed from office, same as Clinton?

It could be that way.

commission as an officer of the United States government is the only punishment that can be levied against someone who is impeached.

9. Since we are not a party to the Rome Treaty
which created the International Criminal Court, Bush could not face prosecution there, and depending on the charges he would be impeached under there are implications of double jeopardy.

Federal law also forbids the extradition of any United States nationals to the ICC.

2. And I also fear that if the asshole were being impeached, and had a pretty
good bet that he was gonna be relieved of office, he'd fire up the nukes and send a few hundred around the world.

He's such a fucking child, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

If he goes into an impeachment trial, he has to have his ability to direct the military and to send nukes, REVOKED. It would be totally against tradition, but once he's indicted or whatever it's called for an impeachment, he'll become an angry, dizzy whirling cloud of hatred and will be, I'm sure, happy to send the mlitary wherever he feels, and will nuke multiple upon multiple cities around the world, AND in the US in a gigantic Fuckstick McAWOL tantrum.

when it was clear that his impeachment or resignation was imminent.

6. Impeachment questions
Can someone explain, in simple terms, the impeachment process? What does it take - and by who - to start this? There are obviously more than enough reasons to hang 'em high. Will it depend on any indictments from Fitzgerald? What are we waiting for?

Ever hopeful...

11. Impeachment starts in the house
There has to be a majority of congressional reps to approve impeachment, then it is sent to the senate.
The senate thens has a trial, where the chief justice precides, the senate then determines whether or not to impeach and if removal from office is warranted.
Impeachment was supposed to be serious stuff until these weirdos impeached Clinto only one other President Andrew Johnson had ever been impeached.

8. I would be the first one on the impeachment bus if
I didn't think Cheney would end up president. I just don't see what an impeachment would accomplish unless we could impeach the whole Republican party. Their evil will continue even without their figure-head. Sorry if I sound defeatist. I don't mean to.

12. impeachment DOES hinge on the people.....
and it also hinges on the grand jury.....if delay is convicted soon, which I believe is next....he will either remove himself or we'll make him step down and then impeachment can begin.....

remember there are special prosecutors involved......impeachment trials hinge on all of that going on, and on the american people to stand for it right now and not wait for any more destruction.....
