Relative of mine works for a company that has been given a Corp of Engineer contract. After getting a shitload of vaccinations he and his co-workers will be sent to Miss. and LA.
He says being exposed to potential toxins is worth it for all the $$ that they will be making.

Last time his friends went on a FEMA clean up assignment <in Florida> they made $2000/WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much for that Labor Dept lady saying how many jobs this all will create for the locals..it's all going to out of state workers/companies!
How fucked up is it that FEMA is $tingy with the survivors and yet their contractors will be making $8000/month???????

And no, not all the workers are Native American so it is not like the $$ is going to help their community..some of these guys make $60,000 plus bonuses. They do alot of work in Texas <gee, surprise>, also.

qualified to do it. Heavy machinery isn't something that your average unemployed person knows how to handle. The clean-up takes people with talents that most people lack.

Better let him know that. Also, alot of these assignments are 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, just like wildland firefighting although they make about $1,200 a week for basic crew. And yes, various work gets contracted out annually and those workers get dispatched first.
