Today we learned that Karl Rove was hospitalized a few days back ....for kidney stones. In case y'all aren't familiar with kidney stones, they're just about the most painful thing imaginable. There's been some talk here about the possibility that NOLA's voodoo practitioners just might work a little payback on the Bushies. Do you think maybe it's already started?

I've had a kidney stone, and normally, I'd say I wouldn't it wish that on my worst enemy.

it's a weak religion, indeed. Rove et. al. deserve a helluva lot more than kidney stones for what they've done.

When I see the entire executive branch burst into flames on national TV, then I'll think there's something there.

My one adventure with a kidney stone was both painful and terrifying because I had no clue what was causing the pain. As I waited my turn in the emergency room, I suddenly realized that along with the excruciating pain, my hands and arms were numb up to the elbow. Convinced I was dying, I announced this in a stage whisper, and the triage nurse looked at me and said calmly, "You're hyperventilating." Yeah, they admitted me and doped me to the gills and everything turned out all right, but I don't mind the idea of excruciating pain and fear for Turdblossom.....even for a brief time. The girls are probably just warming up.

10. Had them before. I can't imagine being a guy and having one.

The pain was much worse than unmedicated labor and delivery. Previous ones have been slightly larger than the tip of a ballpoint pen. Right now I'm sitting here with an approx. 10mm in my right kidney. The dr. said no reason to do anything now, it's not causing discomfort. Yeah, right. I don't want to know what that discomfort is going to feel like once it starts, and I don't have a script for any major painkillers incase it starts up.

It's a procedure that blasts those little suckers into a million pieces via shock waves.

I had it done for a stone about the size of a round nickel and other than a sore spot on my back and passing some blood, it was cake. (Sorry for those who are squeamish.) Of course you have to pass the little bits but I really didn't find it all that bad especially with the provided pain meds.

I dread the thought of having to actually pass one intact. My sister said the same thing as you comparing kidney stones to labor.
