Cynthia McKinney: "impeachment" censored in Congressional Record
From Cynthia McKinney:

I mentioned the word impeachment on the House Floor Thursday late afternoon, but I don't see it in the official Congressional Record transcript. I was chided by the Speaker that it was out of order to question the President's motives. I didn't question motives, I questioned actions: from lack of actions on Katrina to cutting the budget of safety net programs, to rewarding the rich to the detriment of all the rest of us. This transcript directly from the Congressional Record is mangled and omits that word!!!! I can't believe this.

Please read the attachment (I don't normally do attachments) and see if I missed it. If I hear back from you that it is, indeed, missing, then I will say the word repeatedly on the House Floor upon my return to force them to put my words as I say them in the Congressional Record.

In this talk, I discuss Katrina, the State of Black America, the State of Hispanic America, poverty in America, and the Katrina timelines being developed that will keep us from falling victim to the White House spin. In addition to explosive information given to me from investigative journalists and whistleblowers, there is one particularly pernicious development taking place: bioweapons labs under water with who knows what having been released into the environment. People desperate for jobs must be informed what the heck has been unleashed in the devastated areas as a result of Katrina. Anyone involved in cleanup must have this information before entering New Orleans. I shudder to ponder all the ramifications of Katrina. Although I didn't finish my remarks, and I'm told they also shut the microphone off as I was concluding my remarks--something I don't remember ever having been done to a Member before--I think you get the message here that high crimes and more than misdemeanors have been visited upon the American people.

42. It happens at all levels of government.
They've censored me many times in City Hall minutes. Even REMOVED what I said off the official tapes. And my Homeowner's Association even went so far to twist what I said so that it sound like I was incriminating myself. I have the tapes of the HOA meeting, so I'm not personally bothered by it if someone challenges me, but I stopped going to the meetings because they wore me out.

61. And what did the REPUBLICAN president Teddy Roosevelt say on that matter?
"The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

Fucking hypocrites who don't even know their own history!

14. Ummm, the word is there.
In the following statement, under the "Time: 18:45" section:

"Well, the Times-Picayune calls for the firing of Michael Brown; and I have signed my name to many letters that are floating around here calling for his firing, his resignation, Chertoff's as well; and in a minute somebody on this House floor is going to mention impeachment." (emphasis added)

I admire Rep. McKinney's courage, particularly in the face of idiots who clearly haven't read the Constitution lately. It is not only proper, it is required that we, as citizens, question our elected leaders.

gah.

I'd look for something random to happen. Just a notion but I thinnk we'll see a partial realignment in the South as a resuult of Katrina and that Katrina will spur some real reflection on just who the people are who run this country. Mayby in the form of populism, or some other form, but let's hope we get a Republican to join it. Can you see McKinney and that guy together? I can't but it's fun to hope!

39. I was watching that speech
and I remember clearly her saying the word impeachment. I also heard her chided by the Speaker, and that her microphone was cut off, because I was trying hard to hear the rest of what she was saying. It was a disgrace, and I'm glad she had time to say so, that she had never before been cut off. Unusually Ungentlemanly behavior, directed toward a speaker.

It was a proud, patriotic speech, and it made me PROUD lady, so PROUD.

I will always remember the brave lady Cynthia McKinney, who stood up to say those words.

The man that followed her, Ron Paul, it was amazing to hear him start speaking the truth as well. But HER speech was ground breaking. It should have started a movement.

I see what it started was a bunch of rats abandoning ship.

I have pride, because I can see an elected representative who won't run from anything. She might think I'm a lousy libertarian who hates government, but for all that, it's okay, because folks like me will still love folks like her. Real public servants. Real representatives. People who don't cut and run.

I'd elect her for any damn thing she ran for. Hats off. It was breathtaking to hear the words, and even better to see them being said in Congress. Bless you Cynthia McKinney, I'm bad with names and always forget them, but I will force myself to remember yours. Bless you Cynthia McKinney. Bless you from the bottom of my heart.

When the republicans got on camera and the house and senate floors and questioned HIS motives for 8 years.

How many times was he accused of "wagging the dog" in Iraq on the senate and house floor?

It's only true if you're a republican.

59. Go Cynthia Go make all of us and Georgia proud!!
The last time Ms. Mckinney spoke out against the government was before we went to war and she came out and mentioned that she had reports that the chimp and his croonies were planning on invading Iraq to gain control of the oil.....and democrats join repukes and turned against her.

Then the repukes in Dekalb county near Atlanta crossed over and voted for Ms. Mckinney challenger in Denise Majette (another black lady)and Majette won! This time around Majette chose to run for the senate and lost her bid. The rupukes in georgia was mad as hell with Majette because she left the door open for McKinney to return to public office and return she did. I hope she can stay this time around!!!

64. you all need to send faxes preferably than email with words"Impeach Bush"
to the Republicans. Pretty hard to ignore on paper.

Or everyone to their local paper, "Impeach Bush" - that will be
hard for the republicans to ignore too. :)

Rense.com is a RW hate-site. In the future, please try to find a more appropriate source.

Thank you,
