Bush Says NG No GOOD...Hires Private Security Army for New Orleans!
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 01:23 PM by KoKo01
Bush Uses Taxpayer Money to Pay Private Mercenaries $350 a Day to roam streets of New Orleans!

This is the Headline (above the fold) I'd like to see blasted on every Front Page in America! This is what he's all about. Stealing from the Taxpayers to fund his Corporate Cronies. Fighting a war with Private Armies who guard the Dignitaries for $1,000 a day (better wages in Iraq) while our regular Soldiers the brave men and women who are out there on the line get crap salaries, jobs in jeopardy and health care access that almost doesn't exist.

Here's a link about this:

3. I have a real problem with this.
Since when has America had mercenaries operating within the borders of our country? Where's the outrage?

Peace.

7. I wonder why it is that we here on the "internets" have to be the ones
always expressing outrage, though. Shouldn't congress have done something about this long ago? Where has our media been. It's all been so cozy that we've had this Mercenary Army and we ended up bombing Falujah and innocents over those Blackwater Mercenaries who were burned and strung up. I always wondered what those guys might have done that caused the townspeople to hate them so that they dragged their buring bodies out of their vehicle and strung them up.

Maybe they were good folks those Mercenaries who died, but how do I know that? Given the reporting and that many of these Blackwater folks could have been booted out of our regular military for bad conduct, and others were "hired guns" for other Govt. organization. How do we know what guidelines these Mercenaries are given to follow and who will enforce that they follow any codes of conduct. They obviously aren't held to standards of Geneva Convention...but then with Gonzalez in charge neither is our regular military held to those standards, anymore. :-(

I just wonder if anyone out there cares or would get upset about this anymore. Is it just us older DU'ers who care about "Private Mercenaries" working for who knows what kind of Corporation...guarding our cities.

10. I wonder how many people who get their news from television
know about this? Also, if they know about it, has it been emphasized that Blackwater people are mercenaries? Hired killers? Hired killers have been hired to roam the streets of New Orleans? By whom?

Even if Homeland Security or the federal government did not hire them, the government is resposible for disarming them. The government is confiscating weapons from New Orleanians. They must immediately disarm Blackwater Security.

What is happening? Rich people hire well armed mercenaries, while government disarms poor people. Quite an imbalance. Who wins?

or

Homeland Security hires mercenaries. Why? We have police and National Guard. Not enough? Bring them back from Iraq. Pull them in from every other state. There is no excuse for turning mercenaries loose on the streets of New Orleans, and they should not be able to get away with it. Privatizing ownership of the United States.

15. I thought it was illegal, per Federal law.
Something about owning/operating a private army.

5. Has Homeland Security admitted this?
...They say they are on contract with the Department of Homeland Security...

Has any politician asked Homeland Security?

6. So far they deny...
...it saying they are not operating under any fedeal authorization (and therefore not using taxpayer funds) but I am guessing we'll find ouit the truth as we always do

8. Then demand that they be disarmed.
If they are there without federal authorization, they are not law enforcement. (Not that they should be, anyway.) If they are hired by private citizens, they have no right to bear arms. Weapons are being confiscated from New Orleans residents. They should also IMMEDIATELY be confiscated from Blackwater Security.

I've written to my politicians.

17. I'm not sure who hired Blackwater Security.
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 12:24 AM by NYC
I'm sure they are there. I read that private citizens (Audubon Place) hired private security. They could have hired Blackwater. However, it is reported that Blackwater mercenaries are saying they are working for Homeland Security, and have been deputized by the Louisiana governor.

If you are asking if I am sure they are confiscating weapons from New Orleans residents, I have read that more than once.

They confiscated weapons from people before they entered shelters, and they are confiscating weapons from people when they rescue them.

Blackwater Security is definitely there, and shouldn't be.

P.S. Am I sure? I'm not sure about anything. How often do we get to read the truth?

Demand that they take action to get Blackwater mercenaries out of New Orleans immediately.

What else can you do?

12. yes...we need to call and write even our Repug Reps over Hired Mercenaries
I wonder how Liddy Dole and Richard Burr feel about this....but since I live in the state where Blackwater supplies jobs, I already know. But, poking and nudging at Dole and Burr will make me feel good.

So this is a great DU "Call to Arms" about Mercenary armies on the streets in a city. I always thought Repugs wanted to keep and "bear arms" to prevent the "Gubmit" from invading us...Yet they are SOOOO happy with Blackwater and it's not only that one group there are others spread out the US and in Tony Blair's Great Britain. A simple GOOGLE will show you that Blair/Bush/Bush/Blair are BOTH for these Privatized Military...answerable to NO ONE..but using our tax dollar.
