Bush's response to the hurricane was more active; a press statement that we could recover without help and then off to

California to tinkle his tired tune of Social Security sickness.

Sept. 11 resulted in this oily war in Iraq.

Someone please bind and gag Bush before he launches us into conflict with God, Mars or the solar system because of Hurricane Katrina.

9. THIS one is even better:

I am no fan of President Bush, but the attacks on him for America's lack of preparation - such as Paul Light's op-ed (BDN, Sept. 2) - are unfair. First, our president needed to await instructions from the "higher authority" he often cites before he could respond to this unfolding tragedy. He could hardly demand an immediate response.

Second, he - and Vice President Cheney - were fully prepared. No-competition contracts for Halliburton to reconstruct the affected areas have surely already been drawn up. What more could the administration have done?
