2. He Was Fired
Management wanted to play more cheap right-wing and know-it-all economist crap.

What a shame for a station that used to work hard to be balanced, and a disgrace to my hometown.

3. Isn't it, though?
They used to try and be 'fair and balanced', but now they're marching proudly down the road to RW whoredom. :(

9. Sad Sad Deborah Rowe
I'm a big Jay fan when he did the shoot-outs and really got things going every night. Seems like Denver and Columbine and then 9/11 really did something to him. Hearing him with Eileen in the morning is almost as painful a friend calls the "Menstrating Millies" on WGN.

The saddest or funniest is the attempts by Deborah Rowe to be the first black female Conservative. It's bad enough she's not very good (albeit a lot better than she was a couple years ago), but her "role playing" is so obvious and contrived. She's so poorly informed it's as though she's been fed what to say. But then she probably has a very good future in Christian radio.

12. I've actually talked with Deborah
She's not so much RW as she is badly-informed. One time I gave her some links that refuted her argument aboutr vouchers, and she admitted online that maybe there was another side to the issue. She's also pretty pleasant to talk to, and doesn't shout people down like most RW's. :P

13. Agreed Deborah Is Very Nice
I've chatted with her in the past as well and she's very hard-working and has risen through the broadcast ranks in a tough and very competitive market. And she will stand down when someone does present a straight-forward argument...sometimes, as you state, after her argument is turned inside out in front of her...and I feel so bad for her when that happens. Well not entirely...LOL

they e`mailed the new line-up. it`s the "jennings and jeffers show".i have no idea who they are but they ain`t from chicago. i guess i`ll just keep listening to b&b on 670am for political humor, which is sad that the only political disent in chicago is a sports show....well i guess it`s listening to the blues in the afternoon from dekalb...

21. I love boers and bernstein
funniest show on radio but I agree it's sad when sports guys are the only ones providing a progressive outlook. During the State of the Union address, all I could think about was b & b doing their buzzer/bell schtick for lies/truth.

Deborah Rowe sucks. She's not as bad as most but really is ignorant.

620 am, out of Milwaukee seems pretty even handed, wtmj i think?? Problem is it's also the packers home.

6. I sent them a very nasty email
The only decent political talk in Chicago is now on Saturday mornings starting at 9:00am on WNUR. http://thisishell.net All that's left is university radio. Aaagh!

10. Kudos to WNUR...
also to WLUW (Loyola University), WZRD (Northeastern) and WNUR for being the sole outlets for alternative news in this city. I have to strain my ears here in the burbs to listen, but this, along with the BBC broadcasts (and lately I've had to fish to find those), are the only ones that carry independent and international reports of what's happening in Iraq and around the world.

I just wish there was a consistant time to most of these shows...even checking the websites are very unreliable...the WLUW one hasn't been updated in months.

16. "This is Hell" is updated weekly. I LOVE the moment of truth.
Some guy named Jeff does the "Moment of Truth" every week; they are all online even though they sound much better. He did a five minute teardown of Bill O'Reilly and his overuse of the words "oh, come on." Truly great stuff.

18. I'm Checking Out The Site
Interesting stuff...bookmarked for when I can really explore.

The 9am Saturday's kinda a rough time to get an audience...do they replay it or is there any archived audio?

I'm always checking the "Ed Band" for NPR and Pacifica stuff.

19. It's archived and generally runs from 9-1.
The moment of truth runs in the 11 o'clock hour. It's football season, so the show ends at different times right now.

7. New Hosts
Don't know much about them, but usually "fresh" (at WLS) means "same old, boring, conservative talk."

They'd love someone like Alan Colmes or Susan Estrich, though.

11. Deborah Rowe is human vomit
I cringe at the sound of her thick tongued voice.

WLS is the worst. They're now running an ad for one of their shills, Teri O'Brien--ex lawyer who speaks with this sexy voice (read fembot) who looks like the bride of frankenstein--in response to a caller.

The caller asks: "Where are the WMD?" She replies "Well, they looked for (some criminal) for five years (all over the US mind you) and found him in NC."

And I hear this and think "And?" How does looking for one man in 50 states for five years equate to looking for tons of weapons in one state the size of CA?

But to show you what kind of station they are, they proudly run this imbecilic ad and the listeners love it. Idiocy at its best (worst?).

14. I Heard That Promo
the other day and shook my head.

I think more specific Ms. O'Brien replies to a caller who starts with the RW mantra of only being in Iraq for a couple months and then she hops in with that silly crack about it took them 5 years to find Eric Rudolph.

It was such utter lunacy...my wife and I shook our heads...how could you compare some survivalist nut who was obviously getting assistance from his fundie locals from tons of toxins or missiles? I can't believe a major market station would play such silly tripe. Guaranteed two listeners aren't going to be there.

The only shows I listen to on WLS are Roe & Garry in the Afternoons (still the best show around...and at least they take shots at everyone) and the Newshour from 6-7pm that offers the best analysis of what's going on with Jim Cameron. Other than that, it's an occasional gawk at Rush or Vannity...but my listening to that station is less than half of what it was prior to 9/11.

23. I stopped listening to Roe and Garry--especially Roe when the war
started.

Roe was 100% pro-war and he hung up on people who were against it. I thought that was the lowest and as much as I loved their show, I had to force myself to stop listening. Garry, I think, has some common sense but Roe (along with Don and Roma's caller hangups) ruined WLS totally for me.

I listen as the enemy to hear what Limpblob or Hannity say occasionally. But at least I know what to expect from them. For WLS to allow their hosts to act the way Roe and Don and Roma and now the rude Teri O'Brien do by hanging up on callers or insulting them after calls is horrible.

15. Ski was a good soundboard to Nancy
Don't think he did as well alone, he's great in a duo though.

WLS finally got its wish, all crap all the time. If they could push Nate Clay to 2am to 2:15am, they would doit.

I used to get so little sleep back in the early/mid 90's because I listened to WLS so much. I taped the last episode of Jay before he went to Denver. It's not the same person, think Invasion of the Body Snatchers different. It's sick.

WLS, all crap, all the time. It's a shame.... time to buy a Sirius radio! NRP, Mike Malloy and Sirius. It's the future for me.

17. What's a Sirius radio?
I feel like I'm in the French underground. What is it? I can get NPR and Malloy. This is so pathetic; I'm in Chicago, for God's sake.
