I had the Mute on, but that's what the Graphic said (Closed Bridge).

8. It's the Interstate 10 bridge that goes to "the West Bank" as they call it
I thought Anderson kind of wimped out with the Gretna Sheriff.

Anyone know, is Gretna a separate city from N.O.? Or is it just an area, sort of like "Westwood" in L.A.?

15. Totally separate
City and parish. The bridge actually goes right over the convention center.

6. On now -- couple told to cross bridge, buses would be waiting....
Were crossing, and some reported shooting. Stayed with large group on their side of the bridge. Became a community, shared food. Sheriff came up and held gun to them; said "Gretna" on police car.

Gretna Police Chief said were not prepared for people; city was locked down. "For the sake of the valuables" that people left, they protected community. Denies gunshots. Says race did not play a role.

Anderson asked, couldn't they give people sanctuary. He responds, what were they going to do with thousands of people?

Relating the story just as it was in article.

Says it was absolutely about race.

11. Gretna sheriff says "not to my knowledge" when asked if his officers shot
over the heads of evacuees. Anderson Cooper says the guy never asked the deputies.

The sheriff also mentioned a couple of times that he had a duty to "protect the property of the citizens of Gretna who had evacuated". :eyes:

13. I really hope this guy is brought before Congress too. Find out if he's...
...just a stupid Racist or if he was ordered to hold the bridge, and not let anyone out of the City of N.O.
