Marine on leave says being in Iraq was like being in hell
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 07:40 PM by Jokinomx
Browsing a local TV stations web site... I found this short but telling article. A Marine on leave from Iraq.

>snip<

He compares being in Iraq to being in hell. He recalls the heat and says QUOTE "everybody's always trying to kill you."

>snip<

Notice he didn't say "insurgence".... its EVERYBODY.

1. then thats where we should send bush, cheney, rumsfeld the whole team!
why let them go to hell? its much better if we deport them to IRAQ and leave them there. make that the resolution for the crimes.

2. Hey.. now that is a GREAT idea.
I would love to see how long they would last with temps over 100 degrees in full battle gear inside a humvee without armor. Yeah..now your talking...:-)

3. He also stated he'll go back, if ordered.
Apparently, "hell" isn't *that* bad ...

5. He is a Marine. They are trained to follow orders.....
He didn't say he would volunteer to go back. Only if they ordered him to. There are plenty of military that don't support this war but they aren't going to go awol over it either.

6. Who willingly returns to "hell"? A fool, I tell you.
Why not refuse? It can't be worse than "hell."

4. My brother was there at the beginning of the war...
He said that it wasn't so bad then. The odd Iraqi would try to hit American camps w/ RPG's, and you'd have the occasional IED, but that was basically it. I just talked to TWO of my friends who are over there now, and they BOTH said the EXACT same thing, "Dude, you can't go ANYWHERE or trust ANYONE. EVERYONE wants us dead, even some of the older kids."

My friend Jesse Link said that a squad from some other battalion was going from Camp Anaconda to someplace or another, and their U.S. hired translator led these guys right into an ambush. Surprise, surprise, the 'translator' hasn't shown his face since. Jesus, why the hell are we putting our soldiers through this?

Now I know why most Vietnam vets eventually believed that every civilian was a VC or a sympathizer.
