There's all sorts of damage going on there. Cognitive damage, that prevents them from connecting simple facts into something larger and grand.

Emotional damage, that keeps them clinging to childish tales of a powerful father who makes every decision. Or simpleminded building-block explanations for whay things happen.

Pathetic and sad. But dangerous, too, when they try to start running the show.
