A Rovian brainstorm. Anyone interested?
Although I think the man is pure evil, he does his job well.
"Blame game", his invention from last week was very successful in reducing criticism of the administration.
Of course he is also known for dirty tricks such as swiftboating, but these little phrases he comes up with are really good.
So the brainstorming is about finding similarly efficient labels and phrases to use against the administration.
My contribution is "constantly incompetent" I think it has a nice rhythm and flow.
Can anyone come up with any other suggestions?

2. Doesn't take much brain power to come up with the "blame game" stunt.
I think we give Rove much too much credit for being smart. It's not that he is so smart, so many are so stupid. If Rove were smart, he wouldn't be so evil and he wouldn't be supporting and proping up such an idiot as Bush.

9. Bush the elder used 'blame game' after Andrew in '92 - recycled

"I would simply say this: First place, I'm not going to participate in the blame game, nor is Governor Chiles. What we're trying to do is help people."

George H.W. Bush, New York Times Page 1, 28 August 1992.
Spoken at news conference in response to criticism of the relief efforts in the aftermath of hurricane Andrew.

http://bushlibrary.tamu.edu/research/papers/1992/92082800.html

excerpt:

The President's News Conference on the Aftermath of Hurricane Andrew
August 28, 1992

Q. Mr. President, how do you respond to criticism that you did not act fast enough or you didn't respond to the needs -- --

The President. Well, I think the reason -- I would simply say this: First place, I'm not going to participate in the blame game, nor is Governor Chiles. What we're trying to do is help people. It doesn't do any good to go into ``who shot John.'' I can tell you this, that this large a military movement would not have taken place if there was not very early planning and cooperation by the military, and we have responded. I think the Governor would agree that when he asked for this massive movement of force, it was only within a few hours that we responded to that.

So I think much more important than when something took place or didn't take place is the feeling we must convey of total cooperation. I'm satisfied that we responded properly, and I'm very confident that the military have conducted their mission so far with beautiful planning, now excellent execution. I'm also satisfied that they will do whatever it takes to go the extra mile to help the people of Florida. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Q. Was Chiles slow to ask for Federal troops?

The President. I'm not going to say that. I just expressed myself on this subject. I think we've responded. I think he would agree that when he asked for a massive amount of force yesterday, it's on the way. There were some things he asked about that we were not able to do, but as he said down there, and I will say here, we are having excellent cooperation between the Governor's office, the State of Florida, and the Federal Government. He said it, and I say it. I'm not going to change my mind on that. He's working ---

Q. Weren't you ready to send troops in there sooner?

The President. -- -- very, very hard to coordinate. He's got a very difficult job down there.

Q. Weren't troops ready to move sooner than that at Bragg, though, and elsewhere?

The President. I've already said when we were asked to move, we moved these massive numbers of forces.

Q. But they were ready to move sooner if asked, weren't they?

The President. I'm not going to go into that because I don't -- what you seem to be interested in is kind of assigning blame or something. That is not what's at stake here, and I don't want to participate in that.

11. He only talks to his supporters
This is an important thing to remember.

He is telling his followers not to play the blame game, because he knows they cannot win it.

Similarly, IMO, it is not productive for Democrats to develop phrases that might change the minds of the Repugs. They won't listen. IMO, some of the best things we can do are, 1) motivate each other to show up on election day, and 2) circulate information within our party that will enable our elected officials to make the best decisions. There are a few hotbutton issues such as abortion and gun control but overall I think swing voters will vote for the best decision makers.

15. Option number one is not valid anymore.
Number 2 works in a democracy that hasn't been bastardized for 4 and a half years.
The only hotbutton issue there should be is the restoration of democracy.
Slogans are important, words are important.
Words like Solidarity, Liberté, Egualité et Fraternité and Democracy.
So lets "free our democracy", I can just about picture the Statue of Liberty tied up in barbed wire for that slogan.

21. Better yet...
...how about the Statue of Liberty breaking free from barbed wire. It would employs the same visual cues but would be more optimistic in symbolizing a new era of freedom.

Rather than trying to make Repugs feel guilty (there's no turning back from the dark side) it is more about sending positive messages to our base and by doing so, enticing people to join.

But a video of Georgie Boy on holiday while people were dying accompanied by that song would be nasty propaganda.

18. Hypocrisy The Rovian Commodity
Rove is a very sick and demented personality. He is an adviser to another who shares the same values.
Their hypocrisy is beyond hypocrisy! One item of their moral agenda is the intolerance towards the gay community. When it seems to be very obvious that Karl Rove is gay! The man is gay and continues to work against the civil liberties of homosexual, and lesbian citizens

29. Gannon and The Others!
Gannon's confession would be a contributing factor. But what about the other gay's that have been present in the orgies in the D.C belt way that Rove has been in attendance. Rove is a gay man! There is no denying that, and there has been many a internet report of his involvement in these sexual parties. Why can't we get one of these gay patriots to come forth with the time and place of Rove's participation.
I can't believe that a gay person would not be willing to disclose Roves apatite for the homosexual scene. Unless they themselves are worried about their own exposure.
But if you are a proud homosexual, and you see that what Karl Rove is projecting is nothing more than hypocrisy and a denial towards your identity, then the only thing that you can do to further your cause is to out his sexuality!
I have always been at odds with the gay community on this point.
Gay brother's and sisters, hear my plea, is this administration a positive towards your cause for equality!?

19. "Let them eat cake!"
No SUV? No Jaguar? No car at all? Well, why didn't they take their private jets out of New Orleans?!

This "let them eat cake" government is worthy of the Bourbon kings of France.

-------

Rove spin machine back up and running, but had abandoned Bush the week before, during the storm. Bush out there floundering on his own, it appeared to me. I figure Karl was negotiating his Treasongate pardon. They let Bush get caught on camera eating cake while a large chunk of the U.S. got blown away and thousands of Americans were dying. Bad Rover! Bad, bad boy! But it gave us a nice phrase. The "Let them eat cake" White House.

27. "Blame Game" was completely ineffective...
IMO.

Once John Stewart put four heavyweights in a row asking to stop with the "blamegame" and then said, "They're to blame" afterward...

the talking point was exposed for the bullshit it was.

Same as the other talking point that they're still using, "What went right and what went wrong."

When the real question should be "What went wrong, and what went wronger."
