there has to be other companies besides Halliburton that can do the work."

she said on the floor of the Senate the other day.

The people of Louisiana know that Senator Landrieu fights like a junkyard dog for them and they also know that she cares about the state and it's people.

AND I've done the math, and I've taken ALL of the Orleans Parish votes out of the elections of Governor Blanco, Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu and Attorney-General Charles Foti and minus ALL of the Orleans Parish votes the three of them STILL would have won...and based on this analysis I think that Senator Landrieu should be able to win as well.

Also, Bush = shit in Louisiana right now and they voted twice for President Clinton, Louisiana was Clinton's BEST state outside of Arkansas...and Senator Landrieu's election is in 2008, a Presidential Election year and if we pick somebody like John Edwards or Mark Warner or ANYBODY Southern, this will also help Senator Landrieu.

Bottom line, she's a fighter, a real slugger and I pity ANYBODY that actually gets into an election fight with her, because Senator Landrieu has NO problem dragging EVERYBODY into the swamp, including herself.

I like her, she's fab. I don't agree with her on EVERYTHING, but I agree with her on about 80% of stuff and thats good enough for me...I would NOT want to agree with a politician on 100% of things because thats rubberstamping and I don't think that it's healthy.

I'd rather Senator Landrieu than some extreme Right-Wing thug like Richard Baker or Rodney Alexander.

The question is will the people who have been displaced get to vote?

18. Well, this IS something I'm concerned about and I've
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 07:02 PM by ...of J.Temperance
Been mentioning this on a variety of different threads. I've read the Louisiana State Law requirements for voting by absentee ballot, and I think one of the clauses might cover at least the displaced folks in Texas and Arkansas...however, in my humble opinion, Baton Rouge needs to find a way to stop this FEMA talk about keeping these folks penned in until 2010.

The 2010 talk is VERY sinister indeed, and it's BLATANT and in your face, which is why I think Baton Rouge will be onto this like white on rice...I hope.

If you're interested, here's the election results from Governor Blanco's election race with Bobby Jindal, and I've also included Attorney-General Charles Foti's results from his election race with Suzanne Haik Terrell...and as I commented earlier, if you take ALL of the Orleans Parish votes OUT of Blanco and Foti's totals they still win. So, hopefully the Democrats can work around the subtraction of A LOT of voters from Orleans Parish:

Kathleen Blanco (731,358) vs Bobby Jindal (676,484)

All Parish Precincts total votes here:

http://www.sos.louisiana.gov:8090/cgibin/?rqstyp=elcmp&rqsdta=10040311512923

Charles Foti (689,179) vs Suzanne Haik Terrell (597,917)

All Parish Precincts total votes here:

http://www.sos.louisiana.gov:8090/cgibin/?rqstyp=elcmp&rqsdta=11150310012919

I should also point out, Louisiana has about 60,000 of the NOLA folk in state, in Baton Rouge and Shreveport and in some other areas where the NOLA folk are staying with their families. So there's at least say another 25,000 votes, maybe a few more. Also, I think a voter registration drive could be done in Shreveport for example to register MORE black people to vote. I'm sure the Democrats are doing the math and brain-storming too.

5. Says they should be hiring the available Louisiana companies
for immediate help in clean up and rebuilding. Not bring in out of state companies.

That is a major point especially for northern Louisiana. Keep the profits in the state. Why give them to Haliburton and let Louisiana just get the sub contracting?

10. Sen. Boxer on now
'bush is drowning in the bad publicity/decisions he's made'

she then caught herself, and said it wasn't meant to be in same context as the people in NO.
