Anybody know where I can find info on Depleted Uranum?

I am doing a report at school about the health effects of depleted Uranium and possible alternatives.

I have done a search and found a few things on the health effects. I am still looking for ideas for solutions. It is a persuasive paper where we must say why it is bad and offer a solution to the problem.

I've been hearing horrible things about what it did to the people in Afghanistan.

What advantage does DU have over regular weapons?

Unfortunately when it hits it shatters into dust particles and both friend and foe alike breathe it in. It causes cancer.

However tungsten is expensive, while nuclear waste is plentiful and cheap. I don't even see why why we developed such an evil munition. Even with crap ammo the 120mm gun on the M-1A1 is able to defeat any current main battle tank.

8. Alternative would be to quit using it

but since the DoD gets it free from the Department of Energy, and it's so very "effective" :eyes: I doubt they'll stop using it.

It's been said that the Saudis demanded the US remove from their country ALL vehicles, tanks, etc. that had been hit by depleted uranium shells. The US supposedly crated everything and brought it back to the US for disposal.
