It has been proven to be more aptly called "Tinkle-On" economics, or "piss-on-the-poor"
Part of the Reagan Revolution was all the Democrats who were sold on stopping funding to the "welfare moms". A lot of Democrats supported Reagan because they thought they were better off if they paid less in taxes.
Prior to the time of Reagan, for two centuries the rest of the world looked at our economic growth and set out to try to get their standard of living to be like ours. With Reagan, the economy of America started moving so our standard of living could be more like the rest of the world. The rich being filthy rich, less and less middle class each year, and the poor growing in numbers and in their level of poverty.
Even with the economic boom of the Clinton years, the effects of "Tinkle-On" economics are clear to see.

We were busy all the time and rarely watched TV or read the papers. Overseas, all we had was Armed Forces for entertainment and news.

There was a complete lack of information then. Now, I think the military is a little more informed, but it's still tough for them to get the truth.

The Reagan growth was purchased by deficit spending caused by a tax cur - National Debt went from 1T to 2.7 T

The Reagan military bildup - sans Star Wars - was almost exactly the Carter 5 year plan released summer 1980.

So what did Reagan do? That was good?

and created a massive debt, outstripped only by Shrub junior's national debt. The rich got richer and the poor got poorer. In addition, Reagan was a treasonous, murdering bastard who traded arms and drugs for hostages and invaded sovereign countries and killed and terrorized their people (Grenada and Honduras, among others.

Reagan undid everything good that President Carter had implemented:
environmental standards, energy conservation, good gas mileage standards, national speed limit, alternative energy programs and a progressive foreign policy.

27. Reagan was the first to figure out how to dupe the working class

into thinking it's interests were served by giving everything to the inherited-wealth class using divisive social issues and "self-reliance" pep talks. What a trick! It still seems to work on some fools today.

I am all for competition and self-reliance . . . but the playing field needs to be at least sort of level. . . or we are just flushing all of the possible societal contributions of anyone who doesn't grow up rich. . . and we are a weaker nation because of it.

of the single income household. A set back of almost a hundred years to the middle class. Now , thanks to Reagan's war on the middle class more and more families face the prospect of everyone in a household (15 yrs and up) having to work just to make ends meet (maybe).
