Post Zero: "Bush is quitting."
I think I started this crazy "Bush is quitting" stuff, in my post this morning entitled "Scary, scary thought...what if the Chimp actually resigns Thursday?"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4757074

The VERY FIRST sentence said "Okay, so it's not gonna happen. No way." All hell broke lose from there. Multiple threads were started. People were trashing me and anyone else who even suggested resignation. Supposedly freepers were freakin' on Freep.com. Hell, all I did was post a possible, plausible scenerio under which I could see it serving his PNAC masters if Bush were simply to step down and let Cheney/Condi continue on his warmongering ways. I mean, since he was just a puppet anyway, right?

Anyway, I'm not sure what the point of this post is. I just saw a poll question, "WILL BUSH RESIGN" and thought, sheesh! Be careful, friends! While I believe the scenerio in my post is perfectly plausible, that doesn't mean I think its likely. Bush couldn't even look at the camera, or even straight ahead, during his "acceptance of responsibility" today. It was a totally hollow, insincere act. And it demonstrates the vast unlikelihood that Bush is going to resign now or ever. If for no other reason than Bush's daddy troubles. He is in this to show-up his daddy. If he actually goes out more disgraced than Poppy, I think he'd crawl back into the Chivas bottle for good. And there is a better chance of him actually, literally doing that than there is of him resigning Thursday night.

I just wanted to clarify that! Not that anyone asked.

4. Personally
I knew it was wishful thinking and presented as that and I responded in jest. But I'll be it HAS ended up on a few blogs.

10. It wasn't even presented as wishful thinking!
It was presented as, "This is not going to happen, but what if..."

Perhaps the scenerio I envisioned, and the details of how and why it would take place, were a bit too plausible-sounding. But I honestly cannot see how anybody read my original post and thought that it was actually saying Bush would resign Thursday. I'm dumbfounded by some of the responses, as if people hadn't even read on word of my post, just the subject line. Even THAT doesn't really explain it, because even the subject line said "what if."

Oh well. These are heady times, people are emotional.

6. It was nice of you to try to comfort us in that way
We can only dream, right? And while we're dreaming, we can dream up the entire * cabinet resigning, a progressive congress that places emphasis on even basic human and environmental rights. Leaders that consider every option before going to war--I'm not good at Shakespeare, what's that line-- to sleep, and perchance to dream?

7. Sorry, it's not that fucking easy...
The Bush family built its fortunes on NAZI GERMANY.

Evil with roots that deep isn't just going to walk away and quit.

BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT.

Sid I mention that the concept of Bush "quitting" is BULLSHIT?

And I apologize in advance...you post something like "Scary, scary thought...what if the Chimp actually resigns Thursday?"...YOUR quote.l..and you WILL get trashed on DU.

I refuse to wank over Bush "resignation fantasies," and the value of posting them...even in the spirit of most idle speculation...is NIL.

This country is BLEEDING.

People DIED.

The economy, unless you're in the Frat Boy's "base," SUCKS.

Bush will have to be REMOVED from office.

Bush will NEVER "resign."

"Crawling back into the Chivas bottle for good?"

BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT.

Post it as an exercise of your own free speech and accept the consequences.

8. Um...I won't say anything that gets me tombstoned
But imagine something to that effect here. Then go re-read what I wrote, and get an attitude adjustment while you're at it.

Wish it was, though. Sure got their knickers in a twist, and that is always a fun thing to do to freepers.
