I noticed Keef has an inter sting closing remark on his show,
I wonder how long he has been using it? It reminds me of something I watched recently...a new movie thing. I think Keef's same remark has been used before by someone. Has anyone else noticed this?

1. Good night and good luck?
It's from Edward R Murrow.

2. he's been using it to close the show
for the past 2 weeks. his usual "keep your knees loose" is a bit too flippant for what's been happening lately.

5. Normally, Keith says the following at the end of the show:
"That's Countdown. Thank you for being a part of it. I'm Keith Olbermann. Keep your knees loose. Good night and good luck."

"Keep your knees loose" is from Jean Shepherd (it means "be ready for anything that gets thrown at you") and "Good night and good luck" is from Murrow.

As he does this, he wads up a sheet of his script into a ball and pitches it at the camera lens, which obligingly does a visual-effect/sound-effect crack.

When the news night has been too serious, however, he eliminates the "Keep your knees loose" and the paper pitch out of respect to the situation.

He hasn't done either since Katrina.

9. i thought it was baseball lingo, according to my
kid brother shortstop, aka, 'Spider', for his loose, gangly stance on the field.

but yeah, it refers to 'whatever is coming at ya'.

10. It is baseball lingo
but Jean Shepherd used to use it, on the radio I believe.

11. You should have heard the reaction when he first said it.
Some of us hoped it was a shout-out to the women in his viewing audience...LOL.
