So he's willing to take responsibility for FEMA's failure...
but not the failure of the CIA for producing false and skewed intelligence? Is that really Bush's official position? Can someone explain how this makes any sense at all?

1. Bush was told to go out and
take it like a man to shore up his tanking poll numbers. If it worked for Clinton, I believe the thinking goes...

5. No-way! - Bush will find out what went wrong and why as he distances
himself from this travesty/debacle caused by his incompetance.
His day will come...and payback is going to be a super-bitch...!

6. Well, not really...
He parsed his words carefully...

"And to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."

That's a far cry from taking responsibility for a "failure" - more like taking reponsibility for... well, you know... some stuff that didn't go right, exactly, to a certain extent - but ONLY to that certain extent...

Talk about weasel words.

7. If there WAS a failure...Bush isn't admitting any failure of any fed.
So he's basically giving you a job description.
