Possible hope for remaining NO pets--DHS news coming?

According to a reliable poster on the NOLA.com pet rescue forum(post #9238):

I have just learned that tomorrow DHS is issuing a press release announcing THE LARGEST ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT IN THE HISTORY OF THE US!!!!! This apparently is not due to the Santorum/Ensign letter to the Whitehouse that I mentioned in #9181, and likely is due to ALL OF OUR CALLS to the Whitehouse, Gov's office, and everywhere inbetween!!!! THE GOVERNOR FINALLY ASKED FOR HELP FROM THE FEDERAL GOVT!! Incidentally, my husband is convinced that Boone Pickens (who at his own expense flew animals to SF) got on the phone and told the Governor to get with it. I agree that Mr. Pickens spending $50k of his own money certainly got the Country's attention. Regardless, the animals now have hope!

We'll see if this is what happens, but this poster seems to have an in with a John Minnick at DHS, who is now in NO.

On edit: Maybe they can at least get their sh*t together for the animals. :\

2. Isn't it better to rescue LIVE animals

then having to clean up dead bodies -- the health hazard posed by a dead and rotting body is much worse than just GETTING THE PETS OUT in my not so humble opinion.

AND by the way this is one issue that many Conservatives and Liberals can agree on.

I have some conservative friends and they are beyond pissed on this issue -- in fact just about all of the Fed's inaction has made them toss bushie overboard like a rotting fish.

I've not seen any big DHS press release yet. It's incredibly frustrating.
