I have a very bad feeling that History is about to get rewritten....
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 09:54 PM by Singular73
Kinda like post 9/11...

I have a feeling that noone will ever talk about armed guards turning people away from escaping the impending hell of NO.

I have a feeling that noone will talk about the lines of communication being cut at the parish.

I have a feeling noone will talk about the aid getting halted at the borders.

I have a feeling that Republican Talking Points will work.

Again.

And I have a feeling that the disorganized fucking mess that is the democratic party will bend over, and take in the ass again.

I have a feeling that 50 billion dollars will go to shrubies friends for reconstruction contracts.

And that noone will question it.

I have a feeling that the poor that used to live in New Orleans will get dispersed to blue state ghettos, and that New Orleans will be rebuilt in the image of fucking Gone With The Wind (pun intended).

And I have a feeling there is not much that will be done about it.

Excuse me now, while I cry myself to sleep. Nite Nite.

2. I was talking to a friend today...
and she mentioned there is an organization all about oral history that is talking to the survivors and getting their stories, and recording them if they will grant permission. This is happening in Austin.

What a great idea, huh?

3. I think you are partly correct.
But this time Busholini can't escape unscathed. People saw what happened with their own eyes. A few eyes were finally opened. So, the Crawford Cretin is staying in his poll rut for a while.

The only thing that can get him out would be gasoline falling below $2.50 a gallon. The sheeple will let him get away with a lot, until it starts costing them money.

4. Pictures, pictures, pictures
The more pictures and video we get, the more the neo-cons can't sweep this sut under the rug.

5. Yeah, Bush is missing for days post-9/11, and jokes are circulating....
.... that it'd be great if maybe the Queen might take us back.

And now he's trumpeted by the media as strong and steadfast.

What a Chimp. What chumps.

6. Why this is different
They can't use national security to cover their tracks. They got spoiled by this with 9-11 and Iraq and got sloppy. There's too much that they just can't hide.

There's much to cry about, but they are not going to escape history. And now that the spell is broken, perhaps history will have a better look at what has happend before.

Get some peaceful sleep, and make trouble again tomorrow.

7. I disagree -- Bush's fuckups are headline news for the FIRST time!
CNN -- of all people -- has almost all of that stuff on their website. WOW! I can't even believe it. The story about armed guards on the bridge went from a rumor passed around the internet to a legitimate, confirmed story that people are talking about in a matter of days.

Republicans are losing serious ground.

I only hope the Dems rise to the occasion.

8. You know what, though?
People are talking about some of these things, like the communications lines being cut, people being turned away by armed guards, etc. And they're talking about it on the news, and many of the newsies want to know what the hell was going on.

I understand what you're saying and why you said it, because 9/11 was definitely whitewashed. And if left solely in the hands of the federal government to "investigate" what happened, then I would agree with you.

But, as I have said in some other posts -- the Katrina mess is different than 9/11. Yes we saw video after video, picture after picture, of people physically and emotionally devastated by what happened on 9/11, but the biggest difference is that 1) Katrina was a natural phenomenen that anybody who had access to a weather report knew about, and 2) the monumental screw-ups by the government, and what I see as the deliberate attempt to keep help and assistance away from those who so desperately need it, was not part of 9/11. (I'm going to leave the LIHOP and MIHOP arguments out of this.)

And there are many people on the "inside", that is, those directly affected by Katrina, who can tell stories of being kept from getting away, being locked down in domes, not getting food and water, and there are also many people on the "outside" who were trying to get into the area to help people who were kept out. I just don't think this one is going to be as easy to sweep under the rug.
