What impending crisis is Bush ignoring right now?
Al Gore said- Bush knew about an impending attack four years ago; He was warned about disaster in New Orleans. So I began wondering- what is he ignoring right now.

Everyone should be asking what impending crisis Bush is ignoring right now.

12. Damnit! I was trying so hard to be the new Carl Rove-of-the-left.
I'm a miserable failure.

About the only thing I've come up with tonight is that he should be paying attention to weapons of math instruction.

2. the bird flu possibility?
I heard on the news today that other countries have stockpiled enough vacine to immunize 25% of their population, but we only have enough to take care of 2% of the people in the U.S.

4. You really want to know?
Fine. I believe I can tell you.

The upcoming energy crises. Oh, don't think he doesn't know about it; at the very least, Cheney knows. And * has been briefed on it.

This winter will be expensive. By 2007, expect a severe impact on the economy due to more expensive oil. And be sure to have warm clothes for the winter of '07. You'll need them.

5. Peak Oil
Bu$h and his oil business cronies are going on with business as usual when the oil markets unstable and about to crash. The price per barrel of oil has doubled in the last year or two. Do you think that we will ever see gas close to $2 a gallon? I sure don't and there are a lot of social scientists and geolists that agree to the idea of Peak Oil. Too bad Bu$h is too interested in making his friends some cash instead of investing in renewable energy, stressing conservation, and promoting efficiency.

Here are some links.

8. From BBC

Scores killed in Baghdad attacks
An early-morning car bomb has killed at least 40 people and injured many more in a mainly Shia area of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, police sources say.

The device was reportedly detonated by a suicide attacker near a group of labourers in the Kazimiya district.

A couple of hours earlier, gunmen killed 17 people in the nearby town of Taji after dragging them from their homes in the middle of the night.

The victims, said to be civilians, were shot dead in execution-style killings.

According to an interior ministry official quoted by AFP news agency, the attackers in Taji, 15km (nine miles) north of Baghdad, arrived in the town on "military vehicles" and were dressed as soldiers.

They "arrested several before assembling them on a public square and shooting them", said the unnamed official.

The attack took place at 0430 local time (0030 GMT) while the bomb in Kazimiya went off at about 0630.

14. Total collapse of the economy and the ensuing class warfare.

He's spending money like there's no tomorrow. There will inevitably come a time when the bills have to be paid and there won't be any money to pay them with. Then all hell will break loose between the "haves" and the "have-nots". You think the so-called NO looters were bad? Just wait till people start thinking it's all about survival.

It's bound to happen because we have three more years of this asshole and he can't do anything right.

It makes me wonder about his Thursday night address. What bad news will he hit us with? What sacrifices will we have to make due to his mismanagement?

It's just a matter of time.

18. Thursday night's a toss-up.
Could it be- resignation?
Could it be- war with Iran?

Life is anything but boring in America. Got to hand it to them.

By the way, your post scares the crap out of me. In a Mad Max sort of way. Can we get some adults in here please. There's a big mess that needs cleaning up...

15. Junior mounted his steed and rode from town to town warning of the CRISIS
... of Social Security. But when Katrina came stomping up the Gulf -- nothing but birthday cake and guitars.

When the IMMMINENT THREAT of Saddam's Weapons of Mass Destruction threatened the ENTIRE WORLD, he strode before the cameras and launched a $200 billion PREEMPTIVE STRIKE on Iraq! Oops!

When the imminent threat of levees failing threatened to drown a major US city, he cut the Army Corps of Engineers budget four years in a row. Oops!

That guy is a MAJOR clusterfuck all by hisself.

Thank goodness for that. Phew. Now they can't drop their nonexistent bombs on us.

But like Vonnegut said tonight, that was Donald's thing.

If there's no political capital to be gained, they won't pay attention. They only cared about New Orleans after they got hammered for not caring about New Orleans.

26. What ISN'T he ignoring? Oh, the non-crisis of privatizing Social Security
Social Security system needs work and improvement, but privatizing accounts so Wall Street brokers can get fat fleecing neophytes is not a solution. There is no crisis that private accounts will solve.

Umm, estate tax? Not ignoring that. A crisis, no, ok, let's attack it, must be the reasoning. Crises are "hard work".
