George Noory's guest is blaming Mayor and Governor for turning away help
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 12:35 AM by bananas
Some girl from New Orleans just said the Mayor and Governor were turning away the help and starving people out.
Noory said "yeah, I heard that"

2. These people never stop
They accuse us of the blame game, when they are trying hard to blame Gov. Blanco and Mayor Nagin. They are the ones playing the games, not us.

3. But when someone calls to slam Bush, Noory will say "yeah, heard that!"
The guy validates EVERY cuckoo bird who calls that show. I heard a guy call the other day who said a clown painting in his childhood bedroom came to life several times. Noory said, "Wow! I hope you got rid of that painting!" When people call to report having seen spacecraft hovering over crop circles, he asks what the craft looked like. A psychic called the other day and said she had a pain in her stomach several weeks before Katrina which she was SURE was a premonition. Noory said, "Wow, that must have shaken you up."

Noory is the ringmaster of the freakshow. He agrees with EVERYONE who calls. Noory has been spreading the word that the Katrina aftermath is a government conspiracy: that the gov't has been manipulating the weather, and that this whole thing was an experiment to see how people respond to being abandoned, then penned up under armed guard, for future reference for a terrorist attack!

Noory's Coast to Coast is pure, middle-of-the-night entertainment for me. I laugh so hard I just about pee the bed!

4. They did that in the second week. Because some people were not
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 01:24 AM by applegrove
moving out and they didn't know how long the water would take to be drained & they wanted control of the city & they didn't want to put first responders into more environmental danger.

That was everywhere on the news... a week ago.

Were N's& his guest specific about when the mayor issued that edict? Cause it didn't last. And was as they tried to get control of the city.

Then they found the water was not that bad & they started rescuing pets and letting some people stay.

7. She was talking about voodoo and zombies
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 01:19 AM by bananas
so I wasn't listening that closely.
Suddenly she started blaming Nagin and Blanco, and praising Bush.
The way it sounded was no help came until Bush stepped in.
She said Harry Connick Jr tried to bring in help and was turned away.

That have been proven flat lies. I heard the same crap from the local RW radio shills this morning. Same crap for the last two weeks.

notice Nagin issued that order a week into the rescue.

13. Where did you go the idea it was Nagin that issued the order
I thought the order to withhold food and to keep the Red Cross out of the Superdome came from the Federal level.

14. I believe the guest was talking about after the Superdome & Convention
Center were evacuated. I thought I heard Nagin talk about withdrawing provisions from people so they would leave NOLA.

15. Yes that was after the shelters were finally evacuated
and they were trying to get the rest of the residents out of their houses. They said they would not provide them with food and water but no one ever does after a storm. You have to get yourself to a distribution center and get your own stuff. That is how it works everywhere else.

Big difference between the situation in week two and the situation in week one when all these people were sheltered at the Superdome and the Convention Center and FEMA withheld assistance on purpose to those locations.

16. True. What also has to be added about the guest is that she was
"holed up" in the French Quarter. Conditions were much better there. Tons of media were around, she apparently never starved, and it seems that she only left New Orleans recently. There wasn't a plethora of information about Bush's doing while on the ground there, and she did not see what we were seeing. Nor does she know that once Blanco asked Bush to declare Louisiana in a state of emergency and he agreed, the onus for all of the tragic screw-ups was his total responsibility. I'm just ranting here because of the frustration when people are given platforms to sound off and they don't have facts in hand. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :)

17. I forgot! She mentioned that she heard one of the levees was purposefully
blown-up to try to prevent the flooding of the French Quarter! I think she said the 17th Street levee???

18. Drunken, Barfly , witch,
wiccan, conservative idiot who dresses up like a blood sucking vampire and takes other drunken fools on tours of " haunted"
Bars (now if that's not a scam).
says that it was Governor Blanco who controlled and stopped all the aid from coming into the French Quarter.
She also said in a matter of fact and approving way, that they BLEW the 17th levee to save the quarter.
She was very upset and expressed how incredible it was that Governor Blanco tear gassed Johnny's sports bar and ruined her little party while all other Orleaners were dying suffering or being relocated.
the way I see it, I'm glad the army tear bombed that placed (something I'm normally very much against). She said the place was full of Media ...ABC, NBC, CBS....German foriegn....all were tear gassed, and rousted out of their safe coven even after all the glowing stories they were doing on it , and how it never closed for 14 years.
Can you imagine , If most of the other drunks had the same consensus as this witch, the damage that was done while they had the ear of these reporters.

19. I take exception to your slamming Wiccans, otherwise you are probably
close to the truth. I just found it interesting that she mentioned the levy being bombed as I have heard other reports about it.

BTW..Some of the most wonderful people I are know are Wiccan.

22. Yeah ..I really didn't mean to offend
wiccans in general...just her mostly(Angel Rivero).

All the description from the opening sentence was by her own admission (except the drunken and conservative part, that was a determination I came to on my own) I included wiccan because too many people mistake witch for bitch.

On second thought maybe it would have been more appropriate
to change it to bitch.

She bitched about Blanco's poor response...then turns right around and bitches about the response when it does arrive.

Another braindead conservative... had she bothered to educate herself. She'd have realize that the response wargamed for... included...siege, firearm confiscation, teargas, eviction, Mexican Marines,Blackwater Mercs, loot happy troops, and finally destruction(Bulldozing & Arson)... throw in some target practice on Fido so the gunshots can be blamed on roving gangs of insurgents....Top it off with some token food drops, rescues and body recoverys for the cameras and that about rounds out the picture.

Just another case of ..."Careful what you BITCH for"

20. That one makes no sense at all
The levee was still holding back water from flooding anything and they blew it up so that everything would get flooded except the French Quarter?

It doesn't matter which levee broke, the French Quarter wouldn't have gotten any more water either way. The top of the bowl was reached before the water got that high. It didn't matter much which direction it came from.

10. yeah. the wing nuts are listening to a drunken barfly
who spent 9 days hanging out at the Sports Bar in the French Quarter where they had no idea what day it was, no TV, no radio, no frigging clue, but plenty of alcohol.

She's an eyewitness for what happened everywhere in the city and a very reliable commentator.

NOT.

12. A woman from NY called and mentioned how when NOLA was
hit by a hurricane and Johnson was president, Johnson was there right after it hit. She mentioned how Bush took way too long and a few other good points. Noory then told her that he agreed with her on somethings and not others.

He never specified. Then a trucker came on. He had tried to get ice into NOLA day two and how FEMA was letting anyone it.He mentioned there were trucks backed up to kazoo to get help in. He finally managed to deliver the ice on Thursday.

23. Lets be clear
The "blowing up the levee" is not a far fletched notion, especially to older locals who remember the 1927 flood.

In that flood, the levees in west nola were blown with dynamite to protect the east city (which includes the FQ, Garden District, etc.). This gave rise to Heuy P. Long and a huge populist revolution amongst New Orleanians. I have already heard from evacuees how they did this again.

The facts are, that due to where the water was coming from (the ocean), blowing up the western levees wouldn't have helped in the slightest. The 17th St. Canal, which is located in NOLA east, was the worst possible levee to damage -- as we all saw, if the lake would have been only a little higher, the garden district would have been under water. Many multi-million dollar homes were already under water.

So although this conspiracy theory is not far fetched, it is not realistic. The River and The Lake have two separate but connected systems, and although blowing up the levy might protect parts of the city by dumping the water into the lake, the reverse is not true. An overfilled lake with no levee protection cannot be contained in the same way.

...let's be as perfectly clear as possible.

ALL government failed ALL people in ALL ways in this situtation.

ALL fingers pointed, on ALL levels, should be directed toward the mirror.

This was the most tragic of convergences.
