US Uses Slide Show (Powerpoint) to Press Case Against Iran....
I laughed my ass of at this one...
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/13/AR2005091301837.html
Using a "slick" powerpoint presentation to make the case is not only indicative of just how clueless this administration is when it comes to foreign relations but also begs the question who and why are they doing this ?

Here are a couple of choice quotes...

<snip>
Several diplomats said the slide show reminded them of the flawed presentation on Iraq's weapons programs made by then-secretary of state Colin L. Powell to the U.N. Security Council in February 2003.
</snip>

<snip>
The problem, acknowledged one U.S. official, is that the evidence is not definitive. Briefers "say you can't draw any other conclusion, and of course you can draw other conclusions," said the official, who would discuss the closed-door sessions only on condition of anonymity.
</snip>

So keep your eye on the ball folks... Katrina is not going to be Bush's "waterloo"... its going to be used to distract us and the media so they can further their insane push to dominate the middle-east.

...nuclear holocaust!

These neocons are rabid...

Bush will stand before the UN tomorrow and say 'Look at the slides. The USA is pre-emptively protecting itself from Iran by invading it. Either you're with us or you're against us'!

And Thursday, he will stand and tell the American public that 'Even though Katrina was bad, something worse is on the horizon - Iran! If we don't strike now, it'll all end in a mushroom cloud!'

You know, I've seen this show. It's a repeat and it sucked the first time it aired. Can't we get some new talent in there?

Edited for spelling...

10. Yeah, I was just mentioning that very fact on another thread...
Iran and China are very tight and if do invade, we'll be lucky if the only thing that happens is trade sanctions... At the worst, I could see China offering military aid. :(

11. China and Russia get their oil from Iran, us going in there is just a bad
idea.

China could crush our economy in a day and Russia has more nukes than us.

What the hell are these nutbags thinking?

13. Who knows what they're thinking!
I've racked my brain trying to figure out if their foreign policy is a series of random screw-ups or if it's a calculated plan of some sort. Either way, if they do try to push this neocon agenda any farther, we're in a world of trouble... :(

2. Georgie: the boy who cried wolf....
The Administration needs to leave Iran alone.

Why should the US government be the only right wing theocracy with nuclear capability?

15. Now there is a real wolf of a nuclear weapon-armed Iran on its way.
I don't want a US invasion, though.

I concur... deception , deflection and sleight-of-hand haS BEEN THE HALLMARK OF THIS JUNTA.

I truly believe they will attack Iran...watch for another 9/11.

I am definitely not a conspiracy theorist. But most chain of events follow a logical chain of events BASED ON PAST HISTORY>

After all... isnt this how they usually catch serial killers? Look to the past for clues. The agenda is stop the fall of the dollar as the world's supreme currency. Hussein tried it... look what happened. Iran is gonna try it .....

LOOK WHAT WILL HAPPEN... be aware that the agenda moves forward.

With Bush being Paul "Wrecking" Crew ready to hit Americans in the nuts with a football... again. I guess the old Charlie Brown/Lucy analogy fits as well...

7. Attacking Iran = The third rail ^ 10
Somehow I think Bush is stupid enough to touch it, even after getting burned over and over again by the original third rail.

Recall, it's not only "liberals" who see no case for attacking Iran... paleoconservatives like Pat Buchanan are solidly against it as well.

Attacking Iran would be seen as a monumental mistake by almost anyone.

So, we have to keep digging... what are all the factors driving this insane administration to pursue this? Is it only a currency issue?

And we need to do something more. We need to somehow threaten the administration that if they attack Iran, they will be igniting a "revolutionary zeal" in this country.

We won't be fooled again. And if this administration tries to pull this stunt, they will live to regret it.

20. I'd heard early next year Iran's oil market will be up, and they will
selling oil to China directly, with no dollars involved. If you believe the things you read, that was one of the motives for invading Iraq (their switch to euros instead of dollars).

8. They are still in with the "Cartoons" I see.....
I was laughing my ass off when I saw Powells slide show with the cartoon drawings of the "mobile labs".

The French was highly critical of that whole "presentation". But the American Press was right there with the "job well done" spin.

And then we wonder why we are becoming a 3rd world country.

With leadership like this, we don't need enemies....that's for sho'!

It's unfortunate that Bush has destroyed US credibility and made it difficult to unite the world against this.

To sum up -- the people in the simulation were swayed by a flashy Powerpoint presentation.
