After perusing Maureen Dowd's article today, and after seeing the Time article, it is clear that this man is out of touch with reality. Unless he sees it on the screen.
Ignoring for the moment the underlying causes and the logical result of such a situation, the only way that we - or anyone - can get his attention, is to make it into entertainment. According to rumor, he likes some westerns, some action movies and anything to do with sports. So, we have to frame issues in terms of Bad News Bears, Die Hard and How the West Was Won. Maybe a little Pink Panther thrown in for relief.
Now, back to the underlying causes and the logical result. If this man is so disconnected from reality that they have to force him to watch a DVD in order to get his attention, this country is in serious, serious trouble. He is not perceiving reality; he tries to make his own little world our reality. That kind of disconnect jeopardizes his ability to lead, act and react to threats and enemies, foreign and domestic.
Perhaps it is time to review Amendment 25, Section 4. "Whenever the Vice president and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the house their written declaration that the president is unable to discharge the powers and dutied of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.
I think we all need to write our congressmen and write LTTE to demand that Congress act and declare him incompetent. and yes, I have thought through the repurcussions. unfortunately.
