Basically, the impression that I got from it was that he gave them the advice that he has ignored himself.

When the transcript comes out, I am going to do a find and replace, and replace "The United Nations" with "The Bush Administration."

I would bet my last penny that my revision would make perfect sense.

What really gets to me sometimes is how these monsters look and sound like the ordinary us, you know? If you happen to be lilly white, that is, which I am, bewildered and ashamed along with so many others, taken along for the ride, white culture in denial. We share the same culture, sorta, the same history, the same everything, but for all that, they don't represent what we are AT ALL. But you'd never pick them out in a crowd. They look just like us.

We aren't any safer from them than the rest of the world is either. Anyone not in that top percentage of income bracket is cannon fodder. Maybe when America realizes that, it will stop. When more people realize that this admin and the individuals pushing it forward are, in effect, cannibals. They betray and eat their own. I cannot think of what is worse. Utter lack of ethics or civilization.

I believe the Russians see that as reprehensible, to be lacking culture? To be so crude and crass, cowboy-style without the bravery or brains, left only with brutality and selfishness, unrefined to the point of savagery. I have to agree with them on that. I can understand why Putin, though he may not be a better man ethically, is yet still a better man than Bush. He at least has the dignity to try to speak intelligently, act as if he believes in reason. He may not actually treat his people any better, but at least he does not see fit to shame them all the while, to the rest of the world, like airing dirty laundry.

Bush lives down to virtually every negative expectation of America. Today. Tomorrow. Yesterday. Our history now, our legacy, for all to see.

15. Russians

Russians don't have the diversity of peoples. And it seems the current administration in our country is taking advantage of differences in class to make the wealthy, wealthier. However, I think we are still ahead of Russia socially, because their ruling class doesn't even pretend to be about government for the people.

Like in the movie "Its a wonderful life", occasionally we have to overcome the "Potters" of the world so other people can breath and live.

(just some thoughts, I know I am not an expert on any of this).

and I'm not an expert either; it'd be a presidential-sized lie to say I am ;) Those are good points, I have to agree, we are a different population, and we "started out" differently as a nation. I think I target more the man we have in charge compared to Putin, along with their culture. It's older than ours, and one thing I know is that they have this idea of "civilized behavior" that we seem to lack. More pride maybe? Being brutish isn't seen as a admirable trait. Bush has done nothing for our pride, that's for sure. Ego with nothing to back it up, and not nearly enough intestinal fortitude to even admit it afterward, probably not even to himself. But I guess if he, himself, were REALLY the source of the problem, it wouldn't be so bad. We wouldn't be so bad off. But he's not. He's just the jerk that seems to enjoy making us look bad, worse, than ever.

He doesn't have to make us LOOK like such pathetic fools too, you know, on top of everything else? Preachin' to the choir, I know. Time to stop rambling.

What you said, it's what a lot of us feel, and we're going to be talking about it for many years to come. MANY years, I'm sure. It's not just idle politics anymore, and it's a shock to come to that realization when it's coupled with anger, fear and shame. It's a bug in my bonnet for sure, this admin and everything they've done, and are still doing. I find myself constantly wanting to jump ahead in things, get right to it, dispense with the BS and have a good long look at things. Formulating opinions before numerous other sources try to form them for me. I babble too, and appreciate those that do it better.
