We MUST Neutralize Those REALLY in Control, FAST
We need to find a way to keep them fully OCCUPIED so they don't have so much TIME to wreak so much havoc.

I'm not certain who all ARE those really in control -- Cheney, Rove, other neocons? I don't believe Bush is one, though.

The important thing is, we can't keep up with them. Even now, they are doing exactly what they said they'd do, changing reality again and again, moving on to the next move while we're still struggling with the last one.

At this point, impeachment, even if legally inappropriate, looks attractive IF only it would TIE UP enough of their resources to slow them down. However, impeach WHO?

I.e., I'm NOT sure impeaching Bush would slow them down that much, since I don't think he's controlling much anyway. It could just be a big distraction for all of us. So I'd completely skip Bush, unless indispensable to attack on those really in charge.

What if any options are there, besides impeachment?

Even if resignations forced, would they really be out of action? We need these guys fully occupied with something like fighting to stay out of jail.

I raise this for many reasons, but one is that I think the focus on Bush is somewhat misguided. We can spend a lot of energy bringing him down, only to see him quickly replaced, while much more dangerous people remain in real power.

Pls kick and nom if you think worthwhile.

1. What makes you think we can do anything within legal limits...
that will give them pause?

I think you overestimate the hand held by progressives here. We can't even get an impeachment proceeding onto the floor of the House, much less take it any further.
And we sure as hell can't force any resignations, at least not without further scandal and humiliation. And the only way we can have that is through their own incompetence -- and to let them make further mistakes, we have to let them act, in what's a rather nasty Catch 22.

In any case, you can't possibly think that we're even close to getting Bush or Cheney or anyone else impeached, can you?

10. Got any better ideas? I'm open--truly!
This was meant at least partly as a solicitation to brain-storm.

But doing nothing is not an option; and whatever we do, I think it's critical to prioritize our objectives.

11. It's huge . . .
except that all we really need to take out (or just get them too preoccupied to be effective) is just the BRAINS and the MONEY. I suspect a lot of these people are just yes-men and are not the main causes of our problems.

7. You left out the media
who keep the sheep placated. Start with them - and maybe the press will start being journalists instead of cheerleaders.

12. To me it goes without saying--
we must continually pound on the media both in form of letters & e-mails to them AND by supporting the legislative efforts to roll back ownership consolidation and reinstate the Fairness Doctrine (I haven't heard anything about status of that effort lately, have you?)

4. It would help if we identified the enemy
Edited on Wed Sep-14-05 10:53 AM by info being
For example, we should have known about Brown's background before this and the spotlight should have already been on him. We need some sort of "enemy tracking" team that acts as an extention of the media and keeps the spotlight on the truth.

* Idea * Why not have a part of DU where we start a sort of never-ending thread about each neocon in power? That way volunteers can do continuous research and keep the info in one place.

15. So take up a collection to buy one of the cable news channels.
Do a hostile take over, whatever. We need to get one of those cable news channels away from the corporate Bush lickers and start reporting what is really going on.

Oh I know, I dream. But isn't there enough multi-billionaires on our side still around who could pool their money and start buying shares of CNN or MSNBC enough to get a controlling interest so they can take over?

This is how desperate I am feeling.

17. Speaking of which:
(you provided an irresistable opening).

I've just uploaded to Current TV's site a new and improved "Grace at Camp Casey" version 2.0. It's been further edited AND includes additional footage from Day 22 of the protest.

If you'll go hit the "greenlight" button, maybe we can get it broadcast! (You'll have to register there in order to vote, but it's minimal.)

Please spread the word to your friends!

http://www.current.tv/studio/media/464902.htm

Many thanks also to liveoaktx for putting the new version on his site at http://www.canofun.com !

(Also, if anyone is willing to host a non-compressed version, pls let me know and I'll get it to you. The non-compressed large file is 54.4 MB and the non-compressed small file is 16.3 MB.)

Many thanks!!
