Pointing blame for response in New Orleans
So Michael Brown, the former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, was given his post because he is well connected to the president? The same goes for Michael Chertoff, a true believer with zero experience in disaster management. So Chertoff demoted Brown after the vice president told him to take care of it. We are supposed to sing hosannas? No.
What FEMA reveals is a culture of corruption and cronyism not seen since the Gilded Age and reveals a pattern. We need professionals in charge, not true believers, but alas that will not happen until the Bush administration is finally out of office. What the Bush administration wants to do is get rid of the civil service that was formed to deal with these problems. This brings me to the next point: Impeachment, there are many reasons and Katrina is just the latest.
