Honore : Rescuing pets could save people

Rescuing pets could save people

Thousands of people apparently have refused to evacuate New Orleans. A
lot
of
them reportedly have been unwilling to leave pets behind.

A news report Saturday said the military had begun providing cages to
pet
owners
so they could evacuate with their animals.

"We got the capacity, and it seemed like the right thing to do," Army
Lt.
Gen.
Russell Honore said.

2. As it should be! Animals are not just a piece of furniture...
easily left behind. There's a bond that many people would rather die than break.

3. How invincibly stupid not to have included this in original planning.
What a shock! People love their pets! REALLY love them. Not in the All Living Creatures Are Replaceable And Disposable Republican way, but in the genuine, risk my life to save you way.

The Republicans never get people right.

7. Dogs risk their lives to save their humans
Which is more than any Republican would do.

If I ever evacuate, my dog goes with me! Leave the Republicans behind!

9. aquart, you are exactly right.
"The Republicans never get people right."

That really says so much. They understand power and money. They do not understand human beings.

15. You misunderestimate Republicans
Fetuses and brain-dead people are not replaceable and disposable.

Only living, breathing, thinking creatures which have already been born are disposable.

Geez! Get a clue!!

6. Exactly why they should plan to help pet owners evacuate, if they don't
people die, not just animals.

10. "... and it seemed like the right thing to do,"
Such an obvious truth... and it took this man to state it & to act on it.

It took them long enough to figure this out. And Honore is right, they DO have the capacity. Use it.
