Are Freeper-Libertarian Flame-wars worse than Dem-Green Wars?
I know that Greens have had trouble here on DU, and that Libertarians also end up in flame-wars with their fellow, GOP Freepers. But I'm wondering, does a Green enjoy less persecution on DU than a Libertarian does on FR?

1. Nah, Libertarians enjoys a lot less persecution

on FR, than Greens do on DU. This is probably because Nader aided the Republicans in 2000, and the effect of the 2000 Libertarian candidate was minimal on Bush.

4. Whooooooooooa are you wrong about that.
I spend some time there debating with those who remain rational, and there is a devoted core of posters there whose prime directive in life appears to be the smearing, micharacterization and purposeful slandering of both libertarianism and Libertarianism.

They never cease to speak of us in terms similar to what Naderites here encounter, esp since a senate seat race in WA is considered to have been substantially be libertarians voting against the Republican candidate.

Loosertarians, libertines, dopeatarians, etc....

We've heard them all.

2. From the Right board I attend
I'd say not quite as badly. They have a bit more discipline. The only area where they go at each other tongs and hammers is religion; but even there, there aer usually a couple (as here) who comment on the pointlessness of internal blood letting.

They do show a bit more discipline. It's clear, in some cases, that they have some really ugly ideas that most Americans wouldn't go along with this, but they usually keep those ideas pretty well surpressed. Whereas it seems every couple of days we get on the subject of "Hey why don't we switch to some sort of socialist system?" or "Isn't Capitalism crappy?"

For those who don't know, this is never not going to be a capitalist country, and many Americans see attacking capitalism as very negative. In my mind that suggests we'd do better talking about a humane capitalism rather than presenting socialist schemes.

But I could be wrong.

3. well in order to answer that
one would have to actually participate or lurk at freerepublic, wouldnt one?

I would comment that, as an independant who finds common cause with much of the green party platform, which ,once upon a time, was inherent in the democratic party platform, I believe that silly commentary, totally without factual merit about greens is just silly and says much more about the poster than the party in question.

5. What does an answer get us?
Let us suppose that Greens get treated less poorly here than Libertarians do over there. In that case, we can correlate the higher quality of antagonism to the higher quality of politics.

Now let's suppose that Greens get shoddier treatment than their Libertarian counterparts. Nothing will change. No one will behave differently when f.r. is held up as the behavioral model.

I don't think that anybody gets helped by having an answer. Maybe instead we can lend our energy to some kind of constructive, productive exchange among groups here, and just not care what they do over there.
