Little Somalia and the ethnic cleansing of New Orleans

Joseph R. Chenelly offered up an interesting little report published in Army Times and dated September 2, 2005. Read the title and the opening sentence of Chenelly’s article very carefully and slowly. Chenelly states quite clearly,

“Combat operations are underway on the streets (of New Orleans) to take this city back in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.”

According to one Brig. Gen. Gary Jones, commander of the Louisiana National Guard’s Joint Task Force, “this place (New Orleans) is going to look like Little Somalia.” Jones told Army Times that “hundreds of armed troops under his charge are prepared to launch a massive citywide security mission from a staging area outside the Louisiana Superdome.” Herr General was also quoted as saying, “this will be a combat operation to get this city under control.”
