2 Katrina Evacuees In Raleigh Shelter Plan Wedding

POSTED: 9:23 am EDT September 14, 2005

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Two refugees from Hurricane Katrina's flooding lost everything, including plans they had made for a spring wedding, but they kept their hope alive.

Trazjae Clark and DeShawn Moss were brought to the Raleigh shelter for people evacuated from the Gulf Coast and decided not to delay their wedding.

"We were already close, but this time has brought us even closer," Clark said. "We are so blessed and feel the time is right to begin our lives together as we rebuild from our losses."

Thanks to volunteers at the shelter, the couple's plan for a civil ceremony has turned into a full church wedding.

The couple plans to exchange vows Saturday at Baptist Grove Church in Raleigh. Both are seeking jobs in Raleigh.

A wedding shop is donating the bride's dress and groom's tuxedo and a florist is giving the flowers. The volunteers are looking for a sponsor for a reception.
