Jesse Ventura on Mike Malloy last night
Paul Reikoff is subing for Mike Malloy. He had Jesse on. I had never heard his views on the war and Katrina. I'm sure many of you don't like him but man he really tells it like it is, his own views and he feels strongly about them. This is the kind of guy the democrats need to run. He talked about how MSNBC has him on contract as a consultant but never uses him. He thinks it is basically to keep him quiet and out of the mainstream.

1. Trust me, he'll never run as a Democrat.
I'm in Minnesota, and compared to the putz we have for governor now, Ventura was great. He's super-cool when it comes to fighting for certain liberal causes - abortion rights, separation of church and state to name a pair, but he also has several issues he's ultra-conservative on and simply won't budge. For instance, he really wanted a unicameral legislature.

He doesn't like either major party, and while I'd take him in a heartbeat over just about any Republican, his mouth just gets him into too much trouble.

4. He said
This country is becoming fascist and it's not going to be done by the barrel of a gun like in germany, but it's being done with piles of money. That's so true.

5. Jesse's in the "ME" party
as in "I got mine, everybody else can screw themselves".

Although, like you said, there's a lot of us who look back with nostalgia on the Ventura administration, compared to the current group of goofballs currently running the state.

Never thought I'd say I miss Jesse Ventura.

2. I like Ventura
He can be a bit of a jerk on occasion but I will give him major points for telling things as he sees them and not blowing smoke up the voter's ass. If nothing else, I find that very refreshing.

7. Yes I remember one time
Getting mad at him on some show because he stated the Geneva convention doesn't matter and we don't have to follow it. But then he comes back and says something I totally agree with and kinda gets me back on his side. It would be very refreshing to see someone like him in government again somewhere.

3. I Wanted Him to Run as an Independent
in 2004. That would have absolutely swung the election to Kerry.

6. I believe that MSNBC doesn't use him to keep him quiet.

He is one of the few politicians who have not been lawyers. IMHO him never having been a lawyer is why he tells the truth.

9. And
Speaks in plain language that people can understand.

That's why people viewed Kerry and Al Gore as a bore. They just speak too much like college professors and lawyers.

10. This is why it's time for an average Joe/Jane to run this country.
The platform could be Leadership and Language everyone can understand.

11. Damn right
This is honestly what I think will win back some of the blue collar people from the Republican party.

12. I, too, was happy to hear him. . .
last night. . .Malloy should talk to him when he's back. . .best statement Ventura said was that B* made the National Guard the International Guard and that B* himself joined the Guard for the original fact that they were to be only "national troops" during the Vietnam conflict. . .something the Chimp hypocritically overlooks now.

Ventura is leaving the U S of A for adventures so he won't be draftable as a candidate. . .too bad. . .he sounds like a progressive to me. . .forget about the Dems so long as they cling to the DLC/DNC wimpy moderate position.

17. Ventura is Anti Fundamentalism
I really wish there were words to seperate othere left believers from right believers. I am tired of being lumped in with with Robertston and his ilk.
