because federal resources can't be released to states unless there's an official declaration of emergency. That's why Blanco requested a declaration from Chimpy before Katrina struck.

Thing is, as far as I know, they don't have to declare a state of emergency to divert AID to that state. A state of emergency is for....like....emergencies. Like, you know, great big hurricanes and shit.

So why the official state of emergency? Unless they've changed something in the requirements where there HAS to be one declared in order to give funds to that state........oh geez. I just got an all-over chill.

Um, serious yucky feeling. Has that been changed recently?

55. Sounds like it's almost time to stick our heads between our
legs and kiss our a$$ goodbye. I asked hubby tonight if anything radical comes out of Thursday's speech (like nuking Iran, martial law in the "emergency" states, etc.) can just pack up and move to Canada. Worry about immigration procedures and jobs after the fact. His skills with Peoplesoft/Oracle, etc. wouldn't be hard to find something somewhere. We could easily camp for a month then move to a hotel.

I'm getting really uneasy here. Last night we went to church choir practice. Now we do live in a college town where there is a large mix of ethnicities, but there was a carload of kids driving around town screaming George Bush must..... (fill in the blank). I didn't feel healthy even hearing them scream it. Got outta that section of town as quick as I could.

57. I hate to be a wet blanket but guys.....
I know my state requested the declaration and probably most, if not all of the others did so too. Our request stems from spring melting and ice jams on the rivers... nothing to do with Katrina. My guess is that very few of the 28 declarations is due to Katrina.

Well, they may say one thing, but how in the hell can we trust they won't do the something different?! There's been report after report after report of these FEMA camps being practically the same as NAZI GERMANY CAMPS. All that's really missing is numbers tattooed on the forearm. The gov't has had these camps for quite a few years now, just ready to activate them. This is NOT GOOD...NOT ONE DAMN BIT...

John Titor? His story is at johntitor.com. He showed up on the internet in late 2000 claiming he was a time traveler. He hung around a chat room for a few months and then claimed he was going back to 2036, his own time, he was never heard from again. I'm not going to get into it too much here, I will say that they could only find one scientist to debunk his claim. Many others think he was for real, the chats he had do give a plausable theory for time travel.
Anyway the reason I bring this up is while he was here he dropped a few hints about the future. Some of the things he said have come to pass. One of the things he claimed was that a 7 year civil war would start in the U.S. in the year 2005.
