This About Gets It: Bill Maher on Bush
This from an email going around ... enjoy

Bill Maher put it very well on HBO the other night:

"Mr. President, this job can't be fun for you any more. There's no more money to spend--you used up all of that.

You can't start another war because you used up the army. And now, darn the luck, the rest of your term has become the Bush family nightmare: helping poor people.

Listen to your Mom. The cupboard's bare, the credit cards maxed out. No one's speaking to you. Mission accomplished.

Now it's time to do what you've always done best: lose interest and walk away. Like you did with your military service and the oil company and the baseball team. It's time. Time to move on and try the next fantasy job. How about cowboy or space man?

Now I know what you're saying: there's so many other things that you as President could involve yourself in. Please don't.

I know, I know. There's a lot left to do. There's a war with Venezuela. Eliminating the sales tax on yachts. Turning the space program over to the church. And Social Security to Fannie Mae. Giving embryos the vote.

But, Sir, none of that is going to happen now. Why? Because you govern like Billy Joel drives.

You've performed so poorly I'm surprised that you haven't given yourself a medal.

You're a catastrophe that walks like a man. Herbert Hoover was a shitty president, but even he never conceded an entire city to rising water and snakes.

On your watch, we've lost almost all of our allies, the surplus, four airliners, two trade centers, a piece of the Pentagon and the City of New Orleans. Maybe you're just not lucky. I'm not saying you don't love this country. I'm just wondering how much worse it could be if you were on the other side.

So, yes, God does speak to you. What he is saying is: 'Take a hint.' "

Bill Maher

2. With all due respect to Bill Maher ...
Billy Joel drives a lot better than George Bush governs.

Billy Joel never killed anybody by driving. Can you say the same thing about George Bush's governing?

41. You got that right!
IMHO, it was that event that perhaps kept her from getting married until she was in her thirties, and chose to marry the "bad boy" W was. The young man she hit who was killed was supposedly the guy that she was going to marry. For a long time, she grieved over that, and she "needed" someone to help her get over that grief--the carefree "bad boy" fit that image. I wonder if she ever regrets marrying George, with his now infamous temper and the disrespect it seems he often shows her.

Didn't he get so pissed at Laura one time as governor that he drove through the back wall of his garage?

He's a danger to himself, others, and the whole world.

Authority in New Orleans
Brian Williams

Having landed in New Orleans, we are now traveling on Interstate 12, after traversing the Causeway across Lake Pontchartrain. We are headed to Slidel, La. and an interview with the forecaster who sent out the chilling special weather statement on the eve of the hurricane... and predicted the damage with such alarming precision.

We are under escort thanks to an off-duty law enforcement officer... like any military operation, it helps to have Authority with you when confronted by Authority. This is very rapidly becoming the most credential-ed region of the United States. Roadblocks are prevalent but scattershot... rules of the road change, it seems, by day. Depending on the jurisdiction posted at the roadblock you happen to approach... the assumption often is that you're with al-Qaida. The reception can be very brusque, and many roads remain shut to normal everyday vehicular traffic.

Later this afternoon we will make our way to what passes for an NBC News compound in downtown New Orleans. Tim Russert will join me there. Nightly News will originate from that location, which happens to be just blocks from where the President will deliver his primetime speech tonight. EMAIL COMMENT NOW

11. Because he supported the war. But remember, Maher is a Libertarian,
not a social Democrat. He is pissed at Bush for losing NOLA, and his anger is real. The show before this he had only progressives because he thought that he would not be able to face a Conservative.

He still differs in many ideas from me. We just came together on NOLA.

And no, I never accused him of moving to the dark side. I just recognize him for what he is.

The guy's a national treasure. I don't watch TV very frequently, but every time I've caught part of his show, it's made me laugh out loud.

The Regime did allow Member of Parliment Galloway into the country but MSM and alternate news Internet doesn't seem to be giving it much space. I wish the debate with Hitchens would be televised!

George Galloway and Christopher Hitchens Debate: The Iraq War
Moderated by Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!

When George Galloway Channeled Rocky Marciano
by Dave Zirin

"I told the world that Iraq, contrary to your claims, did not have weapons of mass destruction. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to al-Qaeda. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that Iraq had no connection to the atrocity on 9/11. I told the world, contrary to your claims, that the Iraqi people would resist a British and American invasion of their country, and that the fall of Baghdad would not be the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.

Senator, in everything I said about Iraq, I turned out to be right, and you turned out to be wrong, and 100,000 people paid with their lives--1,600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies."

When British antiwar leader and newly elected Member of Parliament George Galloway hurled these words at Sens. Norm Coleman and Carl Levin last spring, the cheers were audible from Brooklyn to Baghdad.

Finally, Capitol Hill's bloody lies had been exposed for the congressional record. Finally, after two years of the "opposition" Democrats doing little more than "reporting for duty", we got a taste of what real opposition sounds like. Finally, if but for a brief moment, the masters of war were humbled.

And now, finally, we have a book by Galloway himself, Mr. Galloway Goes to Washington: The Brit Who Set Congress Straight About Iraq, that tells the story behind the smackdown. His inspired polemic arrives in time for Galloway's antiwar tour of the U.S., during which he will be speaking with everyone from Jane Fonda to Cindy Sheehan, during the buildup toward the national September 24 antiwar demonstrations in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.

52. Bush's policies had a lot to do with the loss of New Orleans:
(1) Promotes the burning of as much fossil fuel as possible, accelerating Global Warming, which has caused more large hurricanes.

(2) Cut funding for the levees which failed. This despite years of studies, op-eds, and requests from NO, the Army Corps and many others.

(3) Appointed Michael Jerkoff and Michael Brown, who actively blocked assistance of all kinds from entering the area.

These deaths are on Bush's hands.
