6. What an uncharacteristic tactic for Galloway. |
|
:sarcasm:
That said, out of this ugly pairing, I hope he wins.

9. Well, he came around just fine. |
|
And Hitch started the ad hominems, so I guess Galloway is forgiven.
He's nailing that drunken sot.

10. If Hitch started it, GG will end it. |
|
PS GG is "fond of a drink" himself. But not nearly to Hitch's extent.

Like a foolish newbie, but I have read the 'kool-aid' references for a while and have not managed to find out what it means.

12. You remember that idiot in Calif., Manson I think, had all his |
|
followers drink poison kool-aid because he told them too, and they all died? Well, that's the reference to kool-aid and Shrub's followers will do anything he asks.

13. It's a reference to the Jamestown massacre in the 1970s. |
|
They were so in love with their cult leader, they drank the poisoned kool-aid and died. It applies to doctrinaire RWers.

21. NO! JONESTOWN massacre: Jim Jones was the cult leader |
|
when Congressional Reps came to check (tropical Guyana), they were murdered by cult leaders at the landing strip-- who then led the cult in mass suicide by purple poisoned koolaid.

19. In 1979 in Guyana, "Reverend" Jim Jones told thousands of his followers |
|
that the end of the world was upon them. They had had dress rehearsals for this event. They got in lines, marched up, and drank Dixiecups of Koolaid because he told them to. And it was just Koolaid. Until the day that it was the end of the world because he told them it was and they believed him without question. And this time the Koolaid had cyanide in it. The infants who couldn't swallow the Koolaid had injections of the poison instead. And they all drank it without question. And they lay down and died. Thousands of them. Jim Jones didn't drink the Koolaid. He shot himself in the head.
Hope that gives you historical and cultural allusions.
