Why are two Brits defining the Iraq debate?

For or against; Hitchens or Galloway. Both Brits. Debating in the United States. In a debate that, beyond limited circles such as DU, will be heard nowhere else.

No Americans similarly passionate could be found - on either side? Or would they simply be unable to debate? Because the debate hasn't exactly been civil. Why is it Brits doing this?

I'm really curious.

1. Americans are stupified

The base level of intelligence is low in America. So there are fewer smart people aligned with the mainstream.

I don't know of a high profile pro-stupidity American intellectual, only pro-stupidity dummies.

Watching American politicians debate, by comparison, is extremely embarrassing. Unfortunately, our academics may have the intellect to do so, but certainly lack the charisma and overt passion.
