Do we have to have GD completely controlled by dup posts about whatever the fuck some schmuck on TV said?

Some Revolution on the Internets. Can't leave Mommy.

3. Yes. To an extent.
I can't bear the news on TV much and appreciate running posts on certain big things like StupidAss's lame speech tomorrow.

But what good does it do when the alternative media parrots the TV?

11. Me too. I just can't watch anymore.
I watch a little local TV news for weather and heads up on what the local politicians are trying to screw us over about, but I can't stand to watch the others anymore.

5. I agree, only to an extent

There are lots of DUers, from every time zone, all hours of the night. Just because we see something on the East Coast at 8:00, doesn't mean everyone else is watching, too. Then, when the program hits the Pacific time zone, a fresh batch of Peecee Potatoes are watching and posting. That doesn't even count the tons of DUers across the pond.

Consider, too, that out of the thousands of posters, the actual number of tv-dupe posters is relatively small. It just seems like a lot because the dupe threads show up all at the same time...well, yeah...they're all talking about the same thing.

Finally, the part I agree upon...too many dupes. It's Cable News Syndrome. In their rush to "scoop" other DUers by being the first to post something they just saw, people don't bother to check to see if the thread has already been started. What can you do about it? Nada. Unless you're a poster. Then, all we ask is, PLEASE, check to see if ten other DUers have beat you to it before you start a new thread.

7. especially those Faux reports...
..the reason i don't watch the crap on the tube is because i don't want to fill my head with all that garbage... but it ends up here in a myriad of forms...difficult to wade through some times. i'm starting to get a little testy though...might be time for a break....

9. We need to keep track of the zeitgeist
And much of it flows through and is shaped by the TeeVee.

We'd be better off if that were not the case, but it's the reality we're stuck with. So it's useful for posts that keep each otehr informed of what's going on, the good the bad and the ugly.
