BUSH accepts full responsibility - In other words, he screwed up, so -
The first step he's taken is, to admit and take full responsibility. And then, while people are buying his message, he quickly will redefine it to his advantage.

Bush kept going back to New Orleans three times to try to find that bullhorn that he had in his hand so admirably right after 9/11 but his bullhorn moment in New Orleans never came.

Thursday night we will witness how he defines his taking full responsibility for the governments failure responding to Katrina
As the news today states that 700+ dead have been counted thus far with maybe 20% of new Orleans having been searched.

1. Except he didn't.
the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility.

Awful lot of qualifiers in there to be a full acceptance of responsibility. I'm not going to give him credit for something he should, but didn't, do.

4. In addition to the qualifiers, remember
"Brownie, you're doin' a heck of a job."

"What didn't go right?"

Apparently, W is "taking responsibility" for something he doesn't believe exists.

6. we'll see if he truly accepts responsibility........
.........tomorrow night. Although I was kind of shocked that he would even say that!! I mean he's never accepted responsibility for any of his other screw ups, why is he starting now?

Maureen Dowd also had an interesting article today too. She pointed to all of the times he keeps going back to NO and she said he must be looking for that bullhorn moment. She advised that he should forget about the bullhorn moment, it's too late now anyway. At this point, even if he had a bullhorn moment, it wouldn't make much difference.
