Look at this question

Who is most responsible for the failed evacuation and failure to supply those who sought refuge in the emergency shelters in New Orleans?

Notice how they emphasized the "failed evacuation" instead of a failed response and even when they mention the response it is in the context of supplying the emergency shelters IN New Orleans.

IF you want to blame Bush you have to say "It's all Bush's fault"

....believe it or not I have this friend who could be considered one of my heroes. As a matter of fact he is a hero to many in my community because of his selfless devotion to that community. He is also a devout Christian and a republican precinct commander. Needless to say we do not see eye to eye on religion or politics, both a favored topic of conversation between us! He is getting up in his 70s and the years of hard work are showing on him lately. It is my honor to call him friend. He feels the same about me. He would also pity those folks over at that freeper link. I suppose I could troll this post over there, but from what I saw, they just wouldn't "get" it.

Are NOT our fathers' republican. My Dad was a Republican but he also had a very compassionate side. This side does not exist on people who hold, most especially, rabid religious fundamentalist beliefs.

Yes, my family (my black sheep liberal self-excepted) is a sort of libertarian-republican mixture. Thank Heavens ;) that they are SECULAR and strongly believe in the separation of church and state.

You know, in the OLD DAYS (60s-70s) you could be SECULAR (you can use birth control and have an abortion but YOU must pay for it), and STILL be recognized as a Republican.

The Republican Party used to enjoy a healthy percentage of very level headed (albeit stingy - small government bent) SECULAR members. It was more of a libertarian view - yes, they were socially liberal but fiscally conservative.

Now? Please excuse me when I claim that "My father's Republican Party" has been taken over by Right wing, Fundamentalists Christian, Hate Filled, Propaganda Spewing, Bat-Shit Crazy Freaks! :puke:

Again, I mean it in all sincerity when I say that the "present day" Republican Party seriously FREAKS ME OUT - in both a frightening and forboding way. What will these right wing nut-cases do next to trash the Country I love? :crazy: :scared:
