Check In Here If You Know A Republican That Has Finally Gotten A Clue.
I would like to get more of these anecdotes together on one thread. I have seen and enjoyed scattered accounts. Certainly there are many more.

I do not really hang out with many repugs myself. So I am at a bit of a loss to acess how they are reacting to this massive mismanagement.

The ones in my family have NEVER voted for any Bush. They are old school conservatives. The are deeply troubled by Bushco, and the take over of their traditional party by neocons and fundies.

I have been smelling a real split forming in the Republican party over the incursion of this unfortunate coalition of the neoimperialists and bible-bangers.

Do you know some reformed Bush supporters or other conservatives that see the error of the ways of those who persist in supporting Bush as he continues to run America into the ground?

Do tell! Give me some good news!

1. My Freepy family members would NEVER admit I was right.
But one of them admitted that the Federal govt screwed up during the hurricane.

And another one admitted to enjoying Jon Stewart. Can full conversion be far behind?

None of them are fundamentalists, so maybe it's just religious right who still supports B* unreservedly?

2. I had some emails from some friends and family the other day
that lead me to believe they regret their votes.
But I also have one repuke that is so die hard that he is plain stupid in his defense for anything the GOP or bu$h do.

3. Two of the 3 in my "cubby from He11" have turned recently.
Not alot, but a trickle. They actually were attacking the 3rd guy for what he was saying about Katrina victims, FEMA response, Brownie's resignation, etc.

Coming to grips with the truth
by
Gerald Plessner

If you are a Republican who is distraught over the leadership failures of George W. Bush, you are not alone.
Citizens all over the country share your frustration. I see it in my email, half of it coming from conservatives and Republicans. Instead of writing heated attacks on the presidents enemies, most Bush supporters are now sending me all the lame excuses why the mayor of New Orleans and the governor of Louisiana are to blame for the tragedies of Hurricane Katrina. Talk about the blame game!Deep down --- where it hurts most --- more writers seem to be coming to grips with the truth that the president and his administration are to blame for the breadth of this terrible tragedy.
But it all began in the first days of his administration, when George W. Bush loaded the Federal Emergency Management Agency with political hacks, chasing away competent emergency management professionals.
Yet, this most recent glaring failure of presidential leadership begins at the height of the hurricane, when the president was vacationing in Idaho, hiding from Cindy Sheehan and the mounting criticism of the war in Iraq.

6. I know no one personally and judging from LTTEs to local paper, nary
a true-believer has changed his support for W who is without fault or blame for anything and above reproach: any fault or blame falls on someone else.

7. My boss, who contributes $1000 every year
and goes to all the dinners. We got in a big fight after Katrina, and he was all "Show me the proof". So I swamped him with proof. He came over later and apologised, said he wrote a scathing letter to Bush. Several times since then he's said he probably won't vote republican on the nation elections.

8. I'm former Republican
In a thread I made about my conversion experience that I made last week, there were probably five others in that thread alone that said they were either ex-GOP or had voted for Bush at least once.

9. My cousin's husband, a "small business Republican" got a clue in 2000.
Smirk hisself did the deed. It's incomprehensible to me that any "Eisenhower Republican" could support this cockroach.

10. Okay, I've got one, too
A lifelong repub who voted for Junior in 2000 (don't know about 2004) finally reached the turning point the other day and burst out with, "This administration must have something bad on everyone in Congress! That's the only way they can get away with all of this (i.e., Katrina response, Iraq war lies, etc.)! What can we DO?!?!"

Finally. Sheesh. But, still, better late than never. :applause:

11. Co-worker and husband of friend
both have turned on "W". The co-worker scraped the "W" off his car. He blames "W" for the high gas prices. That's it...high gas prices. Oh, well, whatever it takes. (there's so much to choose from...).
The second, the husband of a friend, has been a fiscal conservative/liberal social policy guy who votes for Republicans. He fancies himself a bigtime investor...and thought voting Republican fit the profile.
He lost his six figure job. Blames "W"...and now hands out "W" stickers...worst president ever.
However, with this guy, it's no longer all about the money. He just now feels more at home with Democratic concerns. And the evangelicals worry him.

These were from my bookmarks and are older threads. Sometimes the cut/paste shortens the URL's...I'll post each one one-by-one and hope they work for you. They seem to all work in 'preview' mode, but, just in case , I listed in italics the truncated part for you to attach in your browser.

Type a 'p?' after the duboard.ph and add the italic section.

Claiming they aren't going to vote Republican anymore.
I only know the one member (as I am not of the Christian persuasion). But you can likely count that as several actual converts.....so to speak.

that the lone Republicans (a couple) who attended an election night 2000 party with her group of friends recently admitted that they very much regret voting for President Sociopath (although they probably didn't call him that!).

17. Last week my neighbor asked me for a "Veterans for Peace" bumper sticker
to add to his "We Support our Troops" homemade sign at the end of his driveway!!!

I do think that my almost daily chats with him had something to do with his conversion!

He is a Republican!

Seriously. I'm gonna punch one if they'd just stay still and not run.
