Why can they only focus on one thing at a time? They've got these 24 hr news channels, and it's the same thing all day everyday on every one of them!

I was wildly excited when 24 hour news was introduced to the American people courtesy of Ted Turner. It didn't take long to realize there wasn't much of substance there.

We have 24 hours to talk about a pretty darned big global community. Instead we are broadcast Michael Jackson and Kobe Bryant ad nauseum. We rarely, if ever, see stories about the situation in African countries. Heck, we hardly saw European news until Spain legalized gay marriage. Then they faded into the background again.

We have 24 hours to talk about stories in depth and learn the history, the process and the ramifications. Instead we get a sodden reporter sobbing over a grieving widower in the morning looped again in the late afternoon.

We have 24 hours of missed opportunities and entertainment disguised as "news."

We have 24 hours to create misinformed, anesthetized and xenophobic Americans.
