Bush always has to be shamed into doing the right thing
Remember his tepid -- almost insulting -- initial response to the Tsunami victims?

Only after he was ridiculed did he adjust the amount of aid the US would offer. Not once, not twice, but at least three times.

This speech tonight will represent another instance of him being "forced" to do the right thing.

Where is Spike Lee when you need him?

1. You can always count on Bush to do the right thing,
grudgingly, and halfassedly, if you take away ALL THE OTHER OPTIONS.

2. He is not shamed into doing anything. He is capable of feeling shame.
He is forced into making compromises by his handlers in order to accomplish their goals. If you watch his body language, he is always doing these things against his will...like a little boy being forced to apologize by his parents for something that he did...but he does not really feel sorry for his act.

3. To be shamed, one must be capable of feeling ashamed.
Bush is incapable of experiencing shame.

Feeling ashamed and being forced by your handlers to address a situation are two very different things.

4. Responsibility Requires Depth
This is something this boy has never had and can't understand the concept. He sees those who took blame as "weak" and there's always been a way to pass the buck, duck the blame, buy your way out or find someone to fix the problem. If you ignore it, it goes away.

As many have aptly pointed, saying he "assumes responsibility" does not mean he has any real contrition and this admission was as painful for him as having to turn down a free cold one. This is being "weak" and he's gonna find a way to "fix" his way out of this.

It boils down to the mindset of this goon and the many of his ilk. They honestly believe they are smarter and superior to everyone else. They are resolute that their limited view of the world, their meager education and years of political indoctrination have turned them into absolute experts in everything.

There will never be a true contrition here...and any real responsibility in this horrid disaster will come reluctantly. We're seeing it already and the shame is how oblivious so many people were to this dude and the ideology he fronts. Maybe there's some buyer's remorse, but it's come at a terrible price.

5. His 'assuming responsibility' only means that he will personally
pick the scapegoat.

6. It's the "mob" not "shame".
Only when his political handlers 'advise' (because the populist mob is almost screaming in unison) him to "get out in front" does he quickly adopt some revised "follow me" posture - NEVER acknowledging he was walking into a wall. I personally think he counts on his corporate media cronies to "mold" mob attitudes and stifle divergent opinions. When that fails, they (both media and political leeches) pretend to revise recent 'history' and reposition him as though that's where he always was.

8. Like helping the poor in NO. - providing body armor 4 the troops
He's not a president, he's a spokeman for the group, he was hired, bought and paid for and payback began the day he took office.
