I don't know when it will happen but without a doubt I do know that it will happen. The streetcars will again roll on St Charles, the cheap t-shirt shops which are constantly having going out of business sales will be back hawking their wears on bourbon Street, Hurricane and Hand Grenade drink containers will litter the sidewalks, Cafe and beignets at Cafe Dumond will stimulate tourists at three in the morning, Mardi Gras crews will roll throughout the region. The Good times will roll. We just got a little cleaning up to do. Ya'll plan on coming on down when the time is right; we'd rather party with you.

:7 My son saw his first transvestite sitting on Bourbon Street with her blouse wide open and her boobs hanging out. LOL! His reaction was SO FUNNY! LOL! We came upon her by complete accident and were surprised by her podium on the sidewalk. Man, I LOVE New Orleans. Never a dull moment when you're there. I can't wait to go back! when I was a young sailor serving in the World's Greatest Navy, I did a short tour in New Orleans. Part of our counseling included this gem - be careful who you pick up in the French Quarter, "she" may be hung lower than you.

If you had asked me 25 years ago, when I lived in NO, what ONE bar would still be open after the bomb dropped, I would have said, without hesitation, JOHNNY WHITE'S.

That was the place where we always ended up real, real late, after doing all the partying one could possibly do in one evening.

You go to other places to get some kind of special cocktail... gotta have the Hurricane from P O'B's, gotta have a Pimm's Cup from Napoleon House, gotta have fake absinthe at the Old Absinthe House... but when you just want a plain old DRINK DRINK, it's gotta be Johnny White's!!

I remember when you got your butt bit for mentioning that the Big Easy would have a Mardi Gras to end all Mardi Gras next year. I knew you were right because these folks have more moxie and dignity and determination than all of this administration combined.

33. My wife and I can't wait to go back.

We've only been once, but it was one of the greatest trips of our lives, by far. It was 2 weeks before the 2000 debacle, and we got to see Al Gore make an appearance on the riverfront after a fantastic dinner at Tujague's.

WHAT a great city. There is simply no other city like it anywhere in the world. I SINCERELY hope it doesn't turn into a Disneyfied farce of its former self.

42. You know, it looked so damn bad -

and it is damn bad, but things have moved on faster than expected. I really had mourned the end of New Orleans as we know it - and I have never in my life been so glad to admit that I was wrong (Shrub I ain't!)

I think the faster folks get back in there and get New Orleans moving again, the less chance the gentrification folks will be able to do their anticipated land grab. Man, I'm hoping for the very best.

And yeah, I sure hope Mardi Gras gets going this year. Two weeks ago I didn't see how it ever could, but now I'm looking forward to hearing that y'all had a wonderful time!
