I know this has been brought up before but this is really pissing me off. Now there are two stories going around (GOP rags) that Katrina victims are buying expensive purses and such. I for one don't doubt there are a people buying expensive things but that is beside the point. IMO, you give them the aid and they buy what they want with it. It is on them to make the decision on what to buy they are adults. What pisses me off is the way some people are making the victims the enemey. I didn't hear one word about the FEMA waste and fraud in Florida. There was quite a bit of money floating around in Florida that didn't belong there. Randi Rhodes has complied many articles on the abuse and Fraud during the Francis hurricane but did we hear one word about that? I didn't even know about it until Randi brought it up on her show a couple of days ago.
You see, this is how the GOP will portray the Katrina victims and once again it all goes back to race. Who gives a damn what they spend their money on? Which is worse, someone who lost everything spending donated money on expensive clothes or someone who didn't lose a damn thing spending donated money on expensive clothes?
